As a Vice President in the Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk team, you will provide critical compliance support and advice to corporate functions, technology, and operations in Japan. You will lead and manage key compliance initiatives, ensuring our business operates with integrity and in line with regulatory requirements. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organization, helping us maintain a strong control environment and supporting our commitment to ethical conduct.
Candidates with less experience may be considered for an Associate-level position.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide compliance support and advice to corporate functions, technology, and operations as part of the second line of defense.
- Lead and manage location-wide compliance initiatives, including data privacy and outsourcing.
- Serve as an escalation point for compliance incidents, coordinating with relevant parties and advising on regulatory impacts.
- Review and monitor the implementation of policies and procedures related to personal information protection.
- Develop and deliver training on safeguarding personal information.
- Oversee outsourcing and offshoring activities from a regulatory perspective, working closely with the legal team.
- Coordinate due diligence for system onboarding and changes, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
- Support regulatory engagement and provide guidance on regulatory changes to stakeholders.
- Assist with regulatory inspections and responses to information requests.
- Prepare and review incident reports for submission to regulators.
- Foster a culture of compliance and operational risk awareness across the organization.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience researching and interpreting laws and regulations.
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections and interactions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong control mindset and sense of urgency.
- Proficiency in preparing presentations and documentation.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Knowledge of technology risk, including cybersecurity, or a background in technology.
- Experience with data privacy and outsourcing regulations in Japan.
- Experience in a multinational or financial services environment.
- Professional qualifications in compliance, risk, or legal fields.
- Experience leading compliance initiatives or projects.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
