Position Overview
We are seeking licensed mechanical or electrical engineering graduates to join our specialized facilities management graduate training program. This 6-month development program combines technical engineering expertise with facilities operations experience, preparing graduates for leadership roles in managing complex building systems and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Building Systems Engineering
Analyze and optimize HVAC, electrical distribution, fire safety, and building automation systems across commercial real estate portfolios. Conduct energy audits, system performance assessments, and recommend efficiency improvements to reduce operational costs. Support capital planning initiatives for major equipment replacements and system upgrades.
Facilities Operations Support
Collaborate with facilities management teams to ensure optimal building performance and occupant comfort. Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues, working with contractors and vendors to implement solutions. Develop preventive maintenance protocols and equipment lifecycle management strategies.
Project Management
Lead smaller capital improvement projects while supporting larger infrastructure initiatives. Manage project timelines, budgets, and contractor coordination for building system installations and renovations. Prepare technical specifications, evaluate contractor proposals, and oversee construction quality assurance.
Compliance and Safety
Ensure facilities comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards. Conduct regular system inspections and maintain documentation for regulatory compliance. Support emergency response procedures and business continuity planning efforts.
Essential Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Strong understanding of building mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, and building automation technologies.
Technical Competencies
Proficiency with engineering design software such as AutoCAD, or similar platforms. Experience with energy modeling software and building performance analysis tools. Familiarity with building codes, ASHRAE standards, and sustainability certifications (LEED).
Desired Qualifications
Previous internship or co-op experience in facilities management, construction, or building systems engineering. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building automation platforms. Knowledge of renewable energy systems, smart building technologies, or IoT applications in facilities management.
Core Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for complex building system issues. Excellent communication skills for interacting with tenants, contractors, and senior management. Detail-oriented approach to documentation, compliance tracking, and project coordination. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Career Development
Structured mentorship program pairing trainees with senior facilities engineers and portfolio managers. Rotational assignments across different property types including office buildings, industrial facilities, and mixed-use developments. Professional development support including continuing education, industry certifications, and conference attendance.
