We are looking for a visionary Director of Engineering to lead the technical evolution of North America’s leading tax preparation solution. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of fintech, drive platform modernization at a massive scale, and directly impact the financial lives of our customers.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Define Technical Vision & Strategy: Architect and execute the long-term technical strategy for our consumer platform. Drive the creation of durable, scalable, and discoverable APIs and data systems that power seamless experiences across Turbo Tax, Credit Karma, and our fintech products.
  • Lead World-Class Execution: Guide a high-performing engineering organization to deliver on a complex product roadmap with exceptional quality and velocity. You will oversee the entire development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to launch and iteration.

  • Build and Mentor a World-Class Team: Recruit, coach, and develop a team of passionate engineers and managers. Cultivate a culture of innovation, accountability, and engineering excellence where everyone can do the best work of their lives.
  • Innovate for the Future: Stay at the forefront of industry trends, especially in AI and platform technologies. Identify and champion opportunities to build next-generation capabilities that enable highly personalized customer experiences.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in software development, with 5+ years in an executive leadership role building and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
  • 5+ years of recent, deep experience leading platform engineering teams at scale, with a specific focus on API architecture, data systems, and modernization.
  • A proven track record of developing and executing a successful technical strategy that enabled significant business growth.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering and operating high-quality, large-scale SaaS or PaaS products serving millions of customers.
  • Exceptional ability to partner with and influence senior leaders across Product, Design, and business functions to drive transformative change.
  • Strong business acumen with an ability to make swift, data-informed decisions and successful trade-offs between short-term and long-term goals.
  • Deep technical expertise in cloud technologies (AWS preferred), distributed systems design, and building highly available services.
  • Experience leveraging AI/ML to innovate and transform product experiences is a significant plus.
  • Experience in Fin Tech, SaaS, or a high-growth B2C environment is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; a Master’s degree is a bonus.
