Interactive Brokers Ireland Limited (IBIE) is a fast-growing global investment firm, which provides MiFID investment services across the EEA. We are seeking a motivated, talented, and dynamic solicitor or barrister to join our team as a Legal Counsel specialising in FSPO complaints, pan-European litigation and contentious matters.

The successful candidate will be part of the European Legal team and will work on litigation and contentious matters for both IBIE and its UK affiliate, Interactive Brokers UK (IBUK). While the preferred location for this role is Dublin, London is also a potential option.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage IBIE Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (FSPO) complaints and assist with IBUK Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) complaints.

  • Represent IBIE in FSPO mediations and draft detailed submissions for investigations.

  • Draft and review pleadings, witness statements, and court documents for IBIE and IBUK litigation across Ireland, UK, and the EU.

  • Investigate complaints/litigation matters and research legal/regulatory issues through case law and legislation analysis.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop case strategies, including identifying cases appropriate for settlement, where relevant.

  • Assist with regulatory requests/investigations, employment issues, client insolvencies, and cross-border court orders.

  • Instruct and manage external counsel across Ireland, EU, and UK.

  • Maintain file records, comply with matter management protocols, and prepare management reports.

Skill and Qualifications:

  • A qualified lawyer (solicitor or barrister) with 3-5 years of experience in disputes, litigation or investigations at a law firm, financial institution, financial services regulatory agency, exchange, broker-dealer or technology company.

  • Excellent academic background.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and to work independently.

  • Ability to outline complex matters in a simple, logical and concise manner.

  • Strong conceptual, organizational and analytical skills.

  • Dedicated problem solver with a can-do attitude.

  • Practical and flexible approach to work with an interest in learning about and working across a wide variety of subject areas, including developing areas of law and technology.

Location:

Ireland is the preferred location for this role: North Dock One, 91/92 North Wall Quay, Dublin D01 H7V7.

IBIE will consider requests to work at the following location: Interactive Brokers (U.K.) Limited – 20 Fenchurch Street, London, EC3M 3BY, United Kingdom.
