Position Summary: The Regional Controller is a key member of the Finance team, responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and ensuring strong financial management and compliance.

This role partners closely with functional leaders to drive profitable growth and support decision-making through timely, accurate financial analysis and insight.  The Controller has full responsibility, and is a steward, for the financial integrity of the U.S. business, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and compliance.

This position reports to the Division Controller and leads the U.S. Finance team (currently two direct reports).

  • Primary Responsibilities:

Provide Financial Leadership and Strategy:

  • Serve as a strategic financial partner to the U.S. leadership team and contribute to annual planning and long-range strategy.

  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and ITW standards.

  • Provide actionable insights through robust forecasting, variance analysis, and performance management.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to deliver on strategic priorities and profitable growth.

  • Full ownership of the U.S. sites’ financial operations including General Ledger management, journal entries, reconciliations, and Month-End, Quarterly and Year-End Close activities, ensuring all internal and external reporting deadlines are met.

  • Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing finance team; implement structured coaching and mentoring to build technical and leadership capabilities.

  • Establish succession planning and talent pipeline development to strengthen organizational depth.

  • Promote collaboration, engagement, and a culture of continuous improvement across the finance team and broader organization.

  • Financial System and Process Improvements

  • Partner with IT to optimize ERP (Macola) and business intelligence/reporting tools (Qlik) to enhance accuracy, speed, and transparency.  Partner with IT on ERP system replacement as part of the project implementation team.

  • Drive process automation and workflow enhancements to eliminate inefficiencies and reduce manual effort.

  • Develop advanced analytics, dashboards, and KPI reporting to enable data‑driven decision‑making at all levels.

  • Understand and apply ITW financial policies consistently and effectively. Ensure accurate financial records and strong internal controls are in place and being followed.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Typically requires 10 years of experience in Finance or Accounting, or an equivalent combination of experience and demonstrated skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Demonstrated talent development capabilities are essential for enhancing the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
  • Proven experience in financial planning and analysis, coupled with a strong understanding of continuous improvement methodologies within a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong ability to leverage influence to collaborate with peers, facilitating decision-making that drives positive outcomes for the business.
  • Ability to navigate and adapt to evolving business environments, ensuring accurate forecasting and responsiveness to change.

  • Deliver timely GAAP compliant reporting aligned with ITW standards
  • Drive forecasting, planning and long-term strategic initiatives
  • Develop and mentor team
  • Partner with IT to optimize ERP, reporting tools and drive automation
  • Implement workflow/process improvements and build advanced analytics
