Job Description: SUMMARY: The applications engineer is responsible for processing product requirements, manufacturing selection/ process design, and documentation including material selection, process optimization, and customer presentation for the fabrication of specialty die cut components with a focus on healthcare, electronics, and automotive end markets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Evaluating customer needs and developing proposals and presentations on how product can meet the customer's needs and be integrated with their existing process

  • Taking the lead role in development of new projects including design alternatives, process capabilities, and volume adjustments

  • Assembling accurate cost estimates for new projects and monitoring performance to estimates on existing products

  • Documenting manufacturing information for finished products, including work instructions, drawings, and support tools

  • Resolving complex applications design issues and providing alternative solutions

  • Respond to customer questions and troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve technical problems that arise during or after implementation

  • Providing technical advice during negotiations with strategic customers

  • Appraising technological developments and investigating feasibility of new techniques

  • Solving complex problems and advancing the Application Engineering capability of the company

  • Supporting sales team as a process and material selection, cost, and capability expert

  • Producing technical, process, and customer drawings using CAD software

  • Performing tooling design by considering and optimizing tolerances, costing, and customer requirements

  • Ability to ensure adherence to M&C’s quality standards and cGMP

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the business to achieve win-win outcomes

  • Ability to generate, read, and interpret 2D and 3D drawings and specifications

  • Familiarity with Drafting software (Draftsight or AutoCAD)

  • Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office)

  • Exposure to ERP software a plus

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline and a minimum of three years of experience
