Job Summary:
As an Apprentice Repair & Overhaul Assembly Mechanic at Honeywell, in Bournemouth responsible for assisting in the repair, assembly, and overhaul of aerospace components and systems under the supervision of experienced mechanics. This role offers hands-on experience and the opportunity to develop technical skills in a fast-paced aerospace environment alongside the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications.
This role is part of our early careers program, designed to help people launch their careers with hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities for growth within Honeywell. This apprenticeship is set up for 4 years, starting from 10th August 2026.

Key responsibilities:
Honeywell will provide you with a nationally recognised level 3 qualification within Mechanical Engineering and specialist in-house training alongside a competitive salary, with annual uplifts, and competitive benefits. Courses provided by Bournemouth & Poole College. You will be given day release to attend.
When you’re not in college, (during working hours), you’ll gain hands on experience on site
within a rotational placement structure to experience visibility of each area:

Assist in the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of aircraft components.

Follow detailed engineering instructions and drawings during assembly and repair processes.

Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment safely and effectively
-
Support senior technicians in troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical issues
-
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work area, ensuring compliance with safety regulations
-
Document all work performed, maintaining accurate records of repairs and maintenance
-
Participate in training programs to develop skills and knowledge about aerospace systems and components.
Key skills and qualifications:

5 GCSE’s, or equivalent, including maths, a science and English (Grade C/4 or above)

Business level written and verbal English language skills
-
Full and permanent right to work in the UK

Live within an easy commute of Bournemouth airport

An active interest in aerospace, (this could be from a hobby, work experience or education)
