Job Summary:

As an Research and Development Apprentice at Honeywell, in Yeovil, you will be joining our dynamic Advanced Technology team. You will work alongside qualified and experienced Honeywell Advanced Technology Engineers to develop your engineering skills across research projects whilst undertaking part time academic studies at Yeovil College.

This role is part of our University Relations program, designed to help students and recent graduates launch their careers with hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities for growth within Honeywell. This apprenticeship is set up for a duration of 5 years with an aimed start date of 3rd August 2026.

Key responsibilities:

For this Degree level Electromechanical Engineer apprenticeship, Honeywell will provide you with the below, alongside a salary, with annual uplifts, and competitive benefits.

A level 6 (integrated degree) BEng Electromechanical engineering; BSc engineering, or another engineering degree, and a level 4 EAL Diploma in engineering and advanced manufacturing (development competence).

  • You will focus on all aspects related to the requirements of technology research levels, to develop various types of aerospace technologies, from the conception of the idea to TRL6 which demonstrates real world operation and compliance of the technology.

  • Throughout your apprenticeship you will being working on Novel aerospace technology research projects within the Advanced Technology team, covering Aircraft Systems, Design, Project Engineering, Test Engineering, Test Solution Design, Supplier Management, and more.

  • Please note, this role will include some business travel in UK/EU/USA.

Key skills and qualifications:

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals to join us, people who are looking for an exciting career rather than just a job with the following:

  • A provable passion for engineering, (this can be from work experience, your studies, or a hobby)

  • A levels in 2 STEM related subjects a minimum of grade C

  • GCSE or equivalent Science and Maths (Grade C/4)

  • Business level written and verbal English language skills
