WHAT YOU’LL DO
At H&M Home, packaging is an essential part of how we bring beautifully designed, functional, and sustainable home products to customers around the world. We are now looking for a Packaging Engineer to join our team in India and support the development of smart, safe, and responsible packaging solutions for our H&M Home assortment.
In this role, you will develop and implement packaging designs that protect products throughout transportation and storage while meeting H&M’s quality, cost, brand, and sustainability ambitions. You will work closely with designers, buying teams, quality partners, and suppliers to turn ideas into scalable, compliant, and customer-ready packaging solutions.
As a Packaging Engineer for H&M Home:
, you will:- Design and developoptimized packaging solutions for home products using 3D software, ensuring safety, compliance, quality, and sustainability requirements
- Select, specify, and validate packaging materials and components suitable for a wide range of home categories
- Inspect, test, and validate packaging for performance, quality, and regulatory compliance
- Document packaging processes, standards, and working methods clearly and accurately
- Collaborate closely with suppliers to implement packaging designs and secure consistent execution
- Train and support suppliers’ packaging operators to ensure correct implementation and continuous improvement
- Partner with product designers and buying teams to align packaging specifications with product needs, logistics requirements, and brand expression
- Conduct risk analysis of packaging designs together with suppliers, quality teams, and business stakeholders
- Develop and communicate packaging ideas using sketches, verbal concepts, and digital design tools
- Ensure packaging designs reflect H&M brand values, aesthetic, and sustainability commitments
- Stay up to date on packaging trends, technologies, and industry innovations, bringing external inspiration into the business
- Research and identify innovative and more sustainable packaging materials, conducting feasibility studies to support future development

You enjoy working cross-functionally and are motivated by creating packaging solutions that are both functional and inspiring—always with the customer and sustainability in mind.

- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
- Clear and confident communication and interpersonal skills, especially when following up with suppliers and partners
- A strategic mindset combined with excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
- A process-oriented approach, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements
- An end-to-end (E2E) mindset, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexibility and openness to regional travel within North India as required by the role
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Materials Science, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in the packaging industry
- Strong hands-on experience with Solid Works (must-have)
- Proficiency in 3D design software, such as ArtiosCAD or similar tools
- Solid knowledge of packaging materials, processes, testing, and compliance requirements
- Experience working with suppliers and production partners
- A genuine passion for packaging development, innovation, and sustainability
