The Role
In order to set you up for success as a Staff Software Engineer in the Gemini App team, we look for the following skills and experience:

As a core member of the Gemini App Response Quality team, you will be responsible for ensuring that the Gemini App delivers high-quality, reliable responses across all user segments and key user journeys. You will serve as the primary Eng PoC for various quality improvement initiatives that drive the end-to-end quality bar, ensuring responses are helpful, accurate, and high-utility across diverse user intents.

Analyze user pain points and behavioral data to refine the quality improvement roadmap. You will prioritize engineering solutions by partnering with Gemini Model team, PMs, and UX Research to bridge the gap between model capabilities and user-facing product impact.

As the strategic PoC for Safety, you will spearhead the development of response frameworks for safety-sensitive topics with a dedicated focus across all user segments including your users. Your mission is to build a secure, inclusive environment where our young users can explore the best of AI technology without compromise.
About You

In order to set you up for success as a Staff Software Engineer at Google Deep Mind, we look for the following skills and experience:

BS, MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
-
Experience working on LLM product, data or evaluation
-
Prior experience in a Tech Lead role leading a team
-
Strong communication skills and a reliable team player
-
Proven knowledge and experience of programing in Java, C++, or Python in production environments
In addition, the following would be an advantage:
-
Strong data analysis skills
-
Full stack (both backend and frontend) development experience
-
Experience with ML, especially LLMs
-
Ability to thrive and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders
The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $197,000 - $291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
