Job Description Summary
This role as a Value Process Engineer plays a pivotal role in driving excellence within the Assembly and Test Organization by demonstrating leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes. In this position, you will leverage your expertise to solve complex technical challenges, develop and execute objectives for yourself and your team, and effectively communicate progress and outcomes to leadership. You will have a direct impact on both short-term and long-term business goals.
This role is centered on supporting engine assembly processes at GE Aerospace's Lafayette Engine Facility. Key responsibilities include owning tool ordering, trouble shooting shop floor issues, owning technology, as well as serving as a special process expert in areas such as torque, chilling, and heating. Your contributions will ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) are met, with safety always being the top priority.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop a strong understanding of the various engine hardware modules, how engine hardware is assembled, standard types of special tooling utilized in these operations and best practices followed throughout assembly.
- Ability to execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Ability to write equipment specifications, lead ordering, machine runoffs, installations and final acceptance. Be the technical liaison to equipment manufacturers providing technical direction and assuring on-time machine/equipment delivery.
- Aid in troubleshooting issues that arise on the shop floor while driving RCCA’s and process improvements
- Knowledge and experience with torque procedures and tooling, standard lift protocols, quality systems, calibration procedures, heating/cooling applications, contamination/cleanliness protocols and FAI requirements
- Understanding of standard engine hardware damage, causes, correct actions and solutions.
- Experienced with interpreting special tool drawings, parts lists, change/modification mechanisms, navigation through the various systems and understanding of the correct contacts.
- Working knowledge of common measurement devices and instruments
- Develop knowledge of computer-controlled torque equipment
- Experience interpreting Engine hardware drawings, parts lists, navigation through the various systems and understanding of the correct contacts.
- Develop understanding of basic hydraulic systems.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years mechanical, process, aerospace, automotive or design experience
- Minimum of 3 years mechanical, process, aerospace, automotive or design experience

- Ability to learn new tasks and take on varied responsibilities
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
- Solid oral and written communication skills. Experience creating presentations and communicating to senior leadership
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, torque, air/oil flow measurement and calibration devices and systems
- Shop environment experience (specifically jet engine assembly/test) strongly desired
