In our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. You'll get the satisfaction of making great products people use and love.
In this position...
About the Role: As a Team Manager at the Rawsonville Components Plant, you will be at the heart of our manufacturing excellence. You will lead a high-performing team on the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) side of our business, overseeing the production of critical components that power our iconic vehicle lineup. Your mission is to drive safety, quality, and productivity while fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment for our hourly workforce.
In this role, you aren’t just a supervisor; you are a coach and a problem-solver. You will be responsible for translating our global manufacturing strategies into daily tactical success on the plant floor.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead with Safety: Ensure all team members follow safety protocols and maintain a "Safety First" culture. Conduct regular safety talks and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
- Drive Production Excellence: Oversee daily production activities for ICE components to meet or exceed delivery targets.
- Ensure Top-Tier Quality: Monitor production processes to ensure all components meet Ford’s rigorous quality standards. Implement corrective actions for any deviations.
- Manage and Develop People: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of UAW-represented employees. Manage labor relations, including initial grievance handling and conflict resolution.
- Continuous Improvement: Utilize the Ford Production System (FPS) and Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, improve cycle times, and reduce costs.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Track and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Maintenance, and Environment (SQDCPME).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, and Logistics teams to resolve equipment issues and optimize production flow.
- Coach and Develop: Actively mentor and coach team members to improve performance, enhance skills, and prepare them for future opportunities within the plant.
- Drive Engagement: Create an inclusive environment where every team member feels heard and valued. Conduct daily "Start of Shift" meetings to align the team on goals and recognize achievements.
- Accountability & Recognition: Set clear expectations for performance and behavior. Provide timely feedback, celebrate wins, and manage performance issues fairly and consistently.
- Conflict Resolution: Act as the first point of contact for personnel issues, using emotional intelligence to de-escalate tensions and solve problems at the shop-floor level.
- UAW Partnership: Foster a professional and collaborative working relationship with UAW Local 898 leadership and Committeepersons.
- Collaborative Problem Solving: Work alongside Union members to address safety concerns, ergonomic issues, and production bottlenecks, ensuring a "One Team" approach to plant success.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 1+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role (e.g., Team Leader, Supervisor, or Manager).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business Management.
- Previous experience working in a unionized environment (specifically with the UAW).
- Deep understanding of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) components and assembly processes.
- Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and motivate a diverse team.
- Proven track record of meeting production targets in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work any shift, including rotating shifts and weekends as required.
