Introduction to the team:

Our Technology Team partners with teams across Expedia Group to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. A singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive loyalty and traveler satisfaction.

We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist III to provide valuable analytics and decision support to drive Expedia's Content products. In this role, the candidate will partner with cross function teams to contribute to many aspects of product development, including understanding user behavior, A/B experimentation, and problem-solving using stats and causal inference techniques.

In this role you, will:

  • Work as an independent trusted partner, working collaboratively with cross-function stakeholders to perform analysis and present insights, and manage regular communication
  • Own end to end process in designing and running experiments (A/B tests); proactively analyze opportunities and recommend new feature to test
  • Implement advanced quasi experimentation techniques to establish dollar impact for several products/ initiatives
  • • Structure problems, extract and analyze data, and present the findings to corporate leadership and internal stakeholders
  • Apply your knowledge with Python/ R, or any other major ML programming language to generate insights and solve business problems using ML algorithms
  • Mentor junior team members and work in a cross-team collaborative environment
  • Contribute to tracking measures of success and supporting metrics, build accurate and easy to consume dashboards/reports
  • Collaborate with the product teams in goal setting, product performance review and strategy planning

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5-9 years of experience in data mining, statistical modeling, experimentation, and business analysis with at least Bachelor's in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or related field (Masters preferred)
  • Experience in performing complex statistical studies such as Quasi experimentation, econometric modeling, designing and interpreting A/B experiments
  • Able to build ML and econometric models while knowing the underlying assumptions
  • Expertise working with large data sets and proficiency in SQL, Excel and Python
  • Proficiency in building high quality data visualizations using Tableau
  • Familiarity with clickstream tools like Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics is a plus
  • Ability to present your findings and recommendations to senior leadership till VP level
  • Ability to work proactively, prioritize and lead through conflicting demands in a fluid environment
  • Growth mindset and a person with high commitment and ownership towards the projects undertaken
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to solve complex problems as well as able to proactively frame analytical projects.
