The Contracts Counsel / Contracts Specialist will be based in either our **Milan (Italy)**or Debrecen (Hungary) office and will provide sales‑related contract support to German‑speaking business units across the DACH region and other European markets.

The role involves working primarily in English and German; knowledge of **Italian **would be an advantage.The position offers a high level of autonomy, with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating agreements and transaction documents in compliance with applicable policies and legal and ethical standards, with minimal supervision

Responding, within established guidelines, to customers’ RFP/RFQs, vendor qualification documents and contractual requests

  • Aligning with customers, using appropriate contractual language to reflect the business interests and policies of the parties

  • Taking the Contracts Lead role on more complex projects and frame agreements as experience develops

  • Working with customers, members of the legal team and other Emerson partners to bring deals to closure

  • Analyzing business, financial, and legal risks

  • Researching information on existing agreements and contractual programs, assisting with analysis and compiling data for reports

  • Providing contract-related guidance to Sales, Project Management and other partners

You distinguish between what is relevant and what is not, prioritizing actions accordingly, while analyzing multiple and diverse sources of information to define problems accurately before moving to solutions. Establishing and implementing individual accountability within the team ensures shared responsibility and ownership. Messages are delivered in a clear, compelling, and concise manner, and decisions are made with high quality, even when based on incomplete information or in the face of uncertainty.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • 2-4 years of professional background in a contracts-focused position

  • Intermediate MS Office skills

  • Excellent oral and written English and German language skills;Italian and other languages are an advantage

  • Excellent negotiation skills

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Extensive knowledge of Contract law & principles

  • Commercial provisions such as warranty, liquidated damages/penalties, payment & freight terms, documentary credits and bank guarantees/sureties

  • Completion of IACCM Contract and Commercial Management (CCM) Training Program to Practitioner Level

  • Experience in a complex Matrix organization

  • Additional language skills
