Job Description:

Enterprise reporter, Washington

The Wall Street Journal is seeking a reporter to write agenda-setting enterprise and investigative stories in Washington DC, with an emphasis on digging into data and sourcing in the world of government and politics.

The canvas for this job is as broad as Washington’s reach. The ideal candidate will be someone with an insatiable curiosity about Washington and the forces that shape it. Want to solve Washington’s biggest mysteries? This is the job for you.

We are looking for enterprise stories that reveal the government’s power centers and deeply reported stories that sharpen our audience’s understanding of politics, policy, and national security, among other things. Candidates should have seven or more years experience breaking news and crafting feature stories, with clips that specifically demonstrate the ability to deliver journalism that everyone talks about.

The job will report to the Washington Enterprise Editor and be based in our Washington, DC office.

You will:

  • Develop original enterprise stories.

  • Find smart, unexpected insights that advance major breaking news events.

  • Work with colleagues to conceive and executive bigger projects and series.

You have:

  • At least seven years of professional journalism experience.

  • A demonstrated ability to separate from the pack and find original approaches to even the most commoditized stories.

  • An ability and desire to unearth fresh stories.

To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter explaining how you would approach the job by March 31st. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and we encourage early submission as the position may be filled before the deadline.
