Job Description:
About the Role
Dow Jones is seeking a Sr. Manager, Search & AI Discovery to drive subscription growth through organic discovery across traditional search engines and emerging LLM-powered platforms. This role is responsible for evolving conventional SEO from a traffic optimization function into a subscriber acquisition and conversion engine, optimizing how Dow Jones content and product surfaces are discovered, cited, and monetized.
The Sr. Manager will partner closely with Editorial, Product, Analytics, and Technology teams to ensure discovery strategies are directly tied to reach quality, intent, and subscription outcomes, including across non-article pages such as Markets Data, topic hubs, and interactive tools.
You Will:
- Commercial Strategy for Search and LLMs: Serve as commercial lead for subscriptions on all matters related to organic search and AI discovery, working with product, editorial, and business development teams.
- Performance Management: Develop roadmap and tactics around quality reach and conversion from both traditional search engines and LLM-powered discovery platforms.
- Search/LLM Funnel Optimization: Partner with experimentation and lifecycle teams to optimize conversion paths for search and LLM-driven audiences.
- Consultancy Management: Own and manage SEO consultancy partnerships, including roadmap alignment, insights delivery, and performance accountability.
- Conversational Search: Optimize reach, attribution, and conversion within AI-generated answers, summaries, and conversational search experiences.
- Industry-trends and Competitive Intelligence: Monitor platform and algorithm changes across search engines and LLMs, translating shifts into actionable subscription growth strategies.
You Have:
- 9+ years of experience in SEO/AI Discovery, subscriptions, or an audience-focused role, preferably within a digital publishing environment.
- Demonstrated success driving subscription growth through organic channels.
- Strong understanding of traditional search engines and working knowledge of LLM-based discovery and AI-generated search experiences.
- Experience optimizing both editorial content and non-article product surfaces for discovery and conversion.
- Deep technical foundation in site architecture, structured data, and performance optimization.
- Proven ability to lead agency partners and manage external consultancies.
- Advanced analytical skills and comfort tying discovery performance to business outcomes.
- Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor's degree preferred
