OVERVIEW:
Welcome to Product Design at DICK’S Sporting Goods, where we specialize in delivering retail excellence along every aspect of the customer journey driven through Technology. Our mission focuses on crafting intuitive, easy-to-use products that span across our business. We are looking for a new team member who can enable human-centered practices that inspire, innovate, and deliver elevated experiences for our customers and products.
The Senior Product Designer for Fulfillment leads the design of critical in-store operational experiences across picking, packing, staging, and pickup, while also partnering across the broader inventory ecosystem to ensure workflow consistency and end-to-end cohesion. You will shape intuitive, efficient experiences that directly impact accuracy, speed, and associate productivity across multiple interconnected product areas.
This role requires a highly experienced designer who can navigate complex systems, work cross-functionally across inventory and fulfillment domains, and influence both product and operational decisions. You will collaborate closely with product management, engineering, data, and store operations, bringing clarity to ambiguous problem spaces and grounding decisions in evidence and operational reality.
In addition to producing high-quality design work, you will mentor and elevate other designers within the portfolio, helping strengthen craft, alignment, and design excellence across teams.
As a Senior Product Designer, you work closely with other product designers, product managers and software engineers to deliver product experiences rooted in human-centered principles that support strategic priorities. You are an active participant and expert facilitator in the organization and delivery of high-quality products enabled through a lean product development process including:
Team Forming As part of a balanced product team, you actively learn, collaborate, and build shared understanding with product management, engineering, and business partners. You help establish team norms, clarify goals, define working agreements, and create healthy rituals that support alignment and delivery.
Product Design Advocate You elevate product design practices within the team by helping teammates understand and apply core product design principles, increasing stakeholder visibility into key moments of the design process, encouraging thoughtful customer‑focused decision‑making, and finding creative ways to influence design quality beyond your immediate product team.
Evidence & Decision‑Making You approach discovery and validation with a practical mindset. You understand that the level of rigor should match the level of risk, and you select lightweight, right‑sized methods to gather evidence that moves the team forward.
Discovery You help your team frame problems effectively using approachable product design methods. You work to uncover user needs, system constraints, and workflow realities through research activities that are efficient, collaborative, and integrated into the team’s process.
Experimentation You promote a learning culture on the team by creating opportunities to test ideas early and often. You use prototypes, usability checks, concept tests, and other lightweight experiments to quickly understand what works and what doesn’t before launch.
Data‑Informed Design You incorporate insights from user feedback, product analytics, and qualitative signals to shape design decisions. You balance data with product intuition and team context to guide direction.
Development You collaborate closely with engineering throughout the build process, ensuring the final experience reflects the intent of the design. You use Homefield, our in-house design system, to deliver high‑quality solutions that fit within our broader ecosystem.
Feedback You seek continuous input from users, stakeholders, and peers. You synthesize feedback into clear themes and work with the team to determine the best path forward, ensuring insights translate into meaningful improvements.
Leadership You extend your influence beyond your immediate team by mentoring junior designers and contributing to cross-team design initiatives. You partner with your manager to explore your leadership trajectory, whether toward people management across multiple product areas or deeper craft expertise within product design.
