Location: Remote or Major Metro Area (Up to 30% Travel)Reports to: Sr. Director / Tech GM of Field Engineering

The Role

As a Director of Delivery Solution Architects (DSA), you will lead a high-impact team of technical success leaders dedicated to our Retail, Consumer Goods and Travel & Hospitality customers. Your mission is to ensure that complex Data and AI initiatives—from supply chain optimization to personalized customer experiences—move from concept to production as efficiently as possible.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between technical strategy and long-term value. You will lead managers and a growing team of DSAs, serving as a technical executive sponsor for our most strategic retail accounts. You will be responsible for shaping the post-sales execution strategy, driving platform adoption, and helping retailers modernize their data stack using the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform.

The Impact You Will Have

  • Leadership & Development: Recruit, coach, and scale a diverse, high-performing team of DSAs and managers. Foster a culture of psychological safety, collaboration, and customer obsession.

  • Post-Sales Strategy: Define and monitor the execution strategy for the Retail vertical. Partner closely with Sales, Solutions Architecture, and Professional Services to accelerate time-to-value for customers.

  • Technical Excellence: Keep your team at the forefront of the Retail Data+AI landscape, including Data Lakehouse architecture, real-time analytics, and Machine Learning. Ensure the team advises customers on the most durable and scalable architectures.

  • Operational Excellence: Drive consistency and efficiency by developing internal playbooks and assets for the DSA practice. Monitor customer health, project progress, and manage a high-quality hiring pipeline.

  • Executive Partnership: Act as a trusted advisor to CTOs and CDOs, guiding strategic data decisions and serving as a thought leader in the Retail technology ecosystem.

  • Issue Resolution: Work cross-functionally to remove technical blockers and address challenges, ensuring smooth project delivery and long-term customer satisfaction.

What We Look For

  • Leadership Experience:7+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles, including3+ years of leadership experience managing other managers. Proven ability to lead and empower large technical organizations.

  • Technical Domain Expertise: Deep experience in cloud technologies, specifically Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, and AI/Machine Learning.

  • Retail Industry Knowledge: Conversant with the business challenges retailers face today, such as inventory management, demand forecasting, and omni-channel customer journeys.

  • Delivery Success: Proven track record in the deployment of production-grade data products. You are an expert at guiding architecture discussions and creating clear project execution plans.

  • Business Acumen: Ability to engage at the executive level and drive growth within complex strategic accounts (e.g., managing accounts with $5M+ in Annual Recurring Revenue).

  • Collaborative Spirit: A track record of building strong partnerships with Sales, Engineering, and Marketing to deliver tangible customer results.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
