A Galleys Program Chief Engineer is the engineering lead for one or more programs. The Program Chief Engineer defines and maintains the Development Plan, ensures technical goals are met on schedule and to cost, serves as the primary technical customer contact and ensures overall product integration with the aircraft. They are committed to managing the engineering team for their allocated programs.

This is an onsite role in Leighton Buzzard, UK.

What you will do

  • Provide direction to Engineering (design, certification, airworthiness and stress) as well as value stream, commercial, supply chain and ops. To take ownership for product support projects and work within Galley’s engineering and wider business providing resolution to cost and on time, apply continuous improvement methods.
  • Accountable for the Service Bulletin delivery (SB’s and VSB’s), in service repair schemes CAA & Airbus (DOA 1000 & M1020) Modification drawings, to implement design changes, or address quality escapes to enable in service operators with appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provides and tracks metrics on performance of tasks including On Time Delivery (OTD) and First Pass Yield (FPY).
  • Coach and mentor to Enhance team members’ design, root cause analysis, and project engineering capabilities to enable quick resolution of in-service issues.
  • Member of the Engineering Corrective action board (ECAB) and support the Product Safety Board as required
  • Creates/maintains project schedules using tools such as Primavera, JIRA and Microsoft Project
  • Review Product Support design solutions to ensure requirements are met and all root causes are addressed so that solutions will meet the expectations of the customer

Experience & Qualifications we prefer:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Experience working in aerospace environment ideally within In Service/Aftermarket or similar aerospace environment is preferred, understanding of manufacturing processes and mechanical design principles is essential.
  • Experience in project engineering or project management such as defining, tracking, and documenting multi-disciplinary project tasks (schedule, resources, budget / cost).
  • General understanding of Aftermarket technical support manuals, component maintenance manual (CMM), service bulletin (SB) and repair schemes implementation
  • Understanding of aircraft interiors and certification requirements is also essential.
  • A STEM Degree is needed for this role.
  • Proven people management and mentorship skills in a matrix organisation.
  • Six Sigma, LEAN or CORE are highly desirable
