Sr. Change Engineer – Nike

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Sr. Change Engineer is responsible to work alongside stakeholders on overall governance, planning, coordination, and execution of software releases. This role leads the release process within an agile and collaborative environment, managing communication between cross-functional teams to ensure changes and releases are delivered successfully. This role leverages automation and modern practices like Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) to streamline the delivery pipeline, minimize risk, and accelerate the time-to-market for new features and updates.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Change Engineer as part of our team at Nike. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader, bringing deep technical expertise in AI and automation to solve complex engineering problems to run Nike’s business and support our athletes.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • 5+ years of relevant software development experience

  • 2+ years Change & Release Management experienced preferred

  • Hands-on expertise in AIOps/Agentic AI and RPA platforms

  • Hands-on experience in Open Source Automation solutions for both Web and Mobile

  • Hands-on tatical AI/ML platform experience – Databricks, Azure AI foundry

Language models/ tools – Lang Chain, Langraph, MLFlow, DBRX instruct, Llama, Cohere, GPT-4o

  • Hands-on tactical experience: Playwright, Test Cafe, Python, Nightwatch or Cypress for Web and XCode, XCUITest, and Swift or Kotlin, Espresso and Android Studio for Mobile

  • Hands-on tatical experience with developing Automation AWS infrastructure using EC2, lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch

  • Proficiency in designing and developing Automation framework using NightwatchJS tool and NodeJS with Java and JavaScript (ES5, ES6) languages.

  • Hands-on experience delivering automation with a focus on Continuous Integration/Continuous Development including Jenkins

  • Proven experience delivering complex enterprise business process automation solutions

  • Proficiency in REST web services (XML / JSON)

  • Establish and enforce governance policies and best practices to ensure compliance, scalability, and sustainability.

  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to convey complex technical discussions to a non-technical audience

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and modern development practices

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, drive outcomes, and mentor others.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

As a Change Engineer, you’ll work alongside stakeholders on overall governance, planning, coordination, and execution of software releases. You'll play a key role in designing and delivering automation-driven solutions to streamline change & release processes and improve operational efficiency and streamline the delivery pipeline, minimize risk, and accelerate the time-to-market for new features and updates. You’ll work on well-defined problems, lead solution design, and drive execution end-to-end—with minimal supervision.

You’ll collaborate with architects, product owners, and fellow engineers to build scalable, secure, and performant solutions while mentoring junior teammates and sharing best practices across the organization.

You’ll be working on building products and solutions for managing and governing Nike’s Automation ecosystem, to drive organizational technical priorities, define engineering best practices, collaborate with peers, and help to translate business problems into technical solutions.

  • Use of data and metrics to assess system behavior, identify bottlenecks, and propose optimizations

  • Demonstrable experience operating in a complex, federated global organization with a geographically dispersed team

  • Design scalable solutions for well-defined business challenges with minimal guidance

  • Participate in development and delivery of technical solutions that meet business needs and align with Nike’s architectural standards

  • Analyze system performance and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and scalability

  • Perform code reviews and technical discussions

  • Drive knowledge-sharing across the team through learning sessions, deep dives, and retrospectives

  • Take full ownership of features and solutions spanning 2–3 sprint cycles

  • Contribute to innovation by facilitating brainstorming and crowdsourcing of new ideas

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess technical feasibility and align implementation strategies

  • Apply structured problem-solving techniques to debug complex systems and identify root causes efficiently

  • Provide clear, consistent, and timeline status reports to key stakeholders

  • Post-release support: Monitor and troubleshoot production environments after a release. Coordinate with operations and development teams to resolve any issues and perform post-mortem reviews
