As an HVAC Refrigeration Technician, you will inspect and perform preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration systems and associated equipment. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:30AM – 4:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
-
Regularly inspect, diagnose, repair and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC systems.
-
Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration/air conditioning systems and associated equipment to include: refrigerators, freezers, walk-in coolers, medical and process chillers, cooling equipment, cryogenic freezers and rooftop heating/cooling units.
-
Troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic controls, solid-state microprocessors and system alarms.
-
Repair refrigerant leaks and evacuate and adjust refrigerant charges.
-
Possibly be assigned to work across multiple Cleveland Clinic locations.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
High School Diploma or GED
-
State of Florida EPA approved certificate for either Type I AND Type II OR Universal refrigerant systems service
-
Four years of experience as a commercial air conditioning refrigeration technician
-
Formal vocational classroom study in refrigeration, air conditioning and or air handling may substitute for up to one year experience
-
Military experience such as Machinists Mate (MM), Utilitiesman (UT), Utilities Equipment Repairer (91C), HVAC/R (3E1X1 or similar will be considered

Ability to read electrical schematic diagrams
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
-
Associate Degree in Environmental Technology from an accredited school
-
Previous work within a hospital setting

Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time

Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

Ability to move/transport items weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)

Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)

Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)

Ability to inspect equipment

Ability to install, repair and maintain systems, equipment, fixtures and/or structures

Ability to distinguish color

Ability to climb ladders
