The Brazil Technology Country Head manages technology strategy and execution across all legal entities in Brazil, overseeing all Technology in the country. This role requires an in-depth understanding of how local technology functions contribute to achieving business objectives, combined with strong knowledge of the Brazilian market, local regulatory frameworks, and global technology architecture. The incumbent will lead matrixed teams, drive local regulatory programs, and support revenue growth initiatives in Brazil, acting as a key interface with local regulators and senior business stakeholders.

Job Description

The Brazil Technology Country Head has overall responsibility for managing Technology across all legal entities in Brazil, having broad knowledge of enterprise technology, cyber risk, and technology supporting all lines of business operating in Brazil. This role requires a good understanding of the industry in order to contribute to the commercial objectives and technology strategy of the business. Senior technology staff in Brazil who are accountable for functionally aligned technology will have a matrix reporting line to the Technology Head. The role holder will be responsible for driving adoption of consistent technology architecture for clients and internal stakeholders within their respective country, ensuring global capabilities are adopted and that Citi operates a stable platform that meets or exceeds local regulatory requirements. A clear understanding of current state and future state based on global product roadmaps will underpin the country Technology roadmap, including investments and projects portfolio. The Brazil Technology Country Head will work with both business Technology teams as well as the Cross-Franchise Transformation Lead to drive delivery of the change portfolio. The Brazil Technology Country Head will also own Technology engagement with the local regulator and requiring strong understanding of the local regulatory landscape in Brazil. Excellent communication skills are required to influence a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and executes Technology strategy and priorities for Brazil across all lines of business.

  • Acts as the main Technology point of contact, providing horizontal oversight and governance representation for all Technology areas in the country, including CIO, CISO and Business Architecture.

  • Drives adoption of a consistent technology architecture for clients and internal stakeholders across geographies within Brazil.

  • Oversees country IT projects portfolio and investments, specifically focusing on local regulatory programs.

  • Actively participates in and represents all Technology functions on required country governance committees and respective follow-ups.

  • Acts as the senior point of contact for local regulators on Technology items, demonstrating strong understanding of the local regulatory landscape and Brazilian market.

  • Ensures Citi can operate a stable technical platform with rapid response to client-impacting issues and issues that impact business continuity.

  • Oversees Technology risk management, including Cyber, for Brazil.

  • Escalates, manages, and ensures timely reporting of significant risk events and issues with transparency to key franchise and cluster stakeholders.

  • Provides matrix management and leadership to technology Lines of Business in the country, promoting talent development and mobility.

  • Appropriately assesses risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years' experience in a related technology management role within a large financial institution, with a proven record of success and significant executive-level experience preferred.

  • Significant understanding of the regulatory environment in Brazil and expertise in managing regulatory expectations in a complex market.

  • Proven capability to lead change effectively within a dynamic and evolving environment and to manage a large workforce, including matrix management of senior leaders.

  • Strong Technology risk experience, including perceptiveness to identify early warning signals.

  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to navigate challenges and identify optimal solutions

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally, including regulators.

  • Demonstrated people leadership skills, including the ability to connect, motivate, inspire, and guide diverse teams to achieve organizational objectives.

  • Ability to build and promote talent within the organization and embed career development pathways for succession planning.

  • Fluent Portuguese and English

Education

  • Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent credentials.

  • Master's degree preferred.
