The Japan, Asia North & Australia (JANA) Corporate Banking Head is a senior management-level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team to develop and maintain client relationships by understanding clients’ needs and delivering the best of Citi in full collaboration with partners across the Products, Functions, Operations and Technology. The overall objective of this role is to sustainably grow our client franchise by achieving targeted client returns on our deployed capital within a well-controlled environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and monitor a client driven franchise growth plan which is delivered through people and franchise management
  • Understand regional and emerging market trends to identify growth opportunities, anticipate obstacles and communicate a forward-looking vision that is responsive to changes in the environment
  • Responsible for overall parent relationship management of clients and providing a wide range of treasury and corporate finance solutions, including cash management, trade, vendor finance, FX, general credit, loans, debt capital markets, share repurchase, and interest rate and equity derivatives
  • Drive client planning, product agnostic cross selling, client access, and effective capital allocation within the Coverage Banker proposition
  • Translate Citi’s strategy into an effective and efficient Corporate Banking business plan and drive a healthy balance between near-term and long-term priorities
  • Responsible for meeting revenue goals and other goals related to budget, risk management, and credit allocation in partnership with Global Capital Management (GCM) and Risk
  • Responsible for coverage of GNB clients
  • Drive innovation, differentiation, speed to market and promote cross selling of products across the Citi platform
  • Partner with Investment Banking to drive and execute episodic transactions with key stakeholders, including Risk and GCM, to allocate capital prudently, appropriately and in adherence to all Citi risk policies
  • Partner with Markets and Services to maximize SOW
  • Ensure client relationships and proposed client solutions meet or exceed internal risk and return standards, including stringent ethical standards and anticipated future changes in the marketplace
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Knowledge/Experience:

Functional:

  • 20+ years of banking experience
  • Strong product knowledge across Markets, Services, Investment Banking and Lending with demonstrated analytical ability
  • Strong communication skills
  • In-depth understanding of compliance issues, and global and local regulatory requirements
  • Experience in working with and within a matrix organization and cross-functional teams
  • Senior Credit Officer (Level 2 preferred)

Market:

  • In-depth industry knowledge
  • Proven existing customer relationships in the cluster
  • Proven track record of senior relationships

  • Demonstrates ability to partner well, draw consensus quickly and act decisively, especially within a challenging and cost-constrained environment
  • Strategic thinker and ability to adapt in line with dynamic market conditions
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • High ethical and moral standards

  • Corporate Finance mindset
  • Proven ability to leverage global network and handle complex and challenging environments
  • Proven ability to originate and close complex deals and solutions
  • Proven ability to act as a trusted advisor to Corporate Banking target market clients
  • Ability to coordinate and manage customer credit and marketing activity in several different countries
  • Strong track record in risk portfolio management

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's/MBA degree preferred from a top economics, business or financial engineering program
