Team Overview:
This position is part of the Platform Automation group within Global Compute. Our team is dedicated to designing, developing, and implementing robust automation solutions that streamline infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, operational workflows, and overall platform management across Citi's global technology footprint. We empower development teams by providing self-service capabilities and reducing manual toil, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and reliability for critical enterprise systems.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Full Stack Developer with a strong specialization in Automation to join our innovative technology team at Citi. The ideal candidate will have 8-10+ years of progressive experience in software development, with a proven track record of designing, developing, and implementing robust, scalable, and automated solutions across the full software stack. This role will be pivotal in driving efficiency, improving operational resilience, and enhancing the overall quality of our critical financial applications and infrastructure through cutting-edge automation strategies within the Global Compute environment.
Responsibilities:
- Full Stack Platform Development: Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of automation platforms, tools, and services using modern full-stack technologies (front-end, back-end, databases, APIs).
- Automation Strategy & Implementation: Drive the adoption and implementation of automation best practices throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and operational processes within Global Compute. This includes building automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code solutions, and self-service automation portals.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews to junior and mid-level developers within the Platform Automation group. Champion architectural best practices, coding standards, and maintain high-quality, maintainable codebases for automation tools.
- System & Infrastructure Integration: Design and implement integrations between various internal systems and core infrastructure components (e.g., cloud platforms, virtualization, networking, security services) to enable seamless data flow and process automation.
- Performance & Scalability Optimization: Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues across automation platforms and their integrations, focusing on creating highly efficient and resilient solutions for large-scale enterprise use.
- Problem Solving & Innovation: Act as a subject matter expert, diagnosing complex technical issues related to automation and infrastructure, and proposing innovative solutions. Research and evaluate new automation technologies and tools to enhance Global Compute capabilities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with infrastructure engineers, application development teams, product owners, and other stakeholders to translate platform and operational requirements into technical automation solutions.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure all developed automation solutions and platforms adhere to Citi's strict security standards, compliance regulations, and architectural guidelines, particularly within the Global Compute environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 8-10+ years of hands-on experience in Full Stack Software Development, with a significant focus on automation platforms and infrastructure automation.
- Programming Languages: Expert proficiency in at least two of the following: Java (Spring Boot, Microservices), Python (Django, Flask), Node.js (Express.js), C#.
- Front-End Technologies: Strong expertise in modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js, along with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/TypeScript for building user-friendly automation interfaces.
- Database Technologies: Proficient in relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra). Experience with database design and optimization.
- Automation & DevOps: Extensive experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, ArgoCD).
- Proficiency in scripting for automation (Bash, Python).
- Mandatory: Strong expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet) for managing infrastructure in a large enterprise.
- Experience with automated testing methodologies and tools for platform components.
- Cloud Platforms & Virtualization: Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Open Shift) and/or on-premise virtualization technologies (e.g., VMWare) for deploying and managing applications and infrastructure.
- APIs: Proven experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs for platform integrations.
- Version Control: Expert level experience with Git and common branching strategies.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills, especially in complex distributed systems.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the financial services industry, with an understanding of regulated environments.
- Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g., Service Now) and integrating automation workflows.
- Knowledge of messaging queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) and event-driven architectures in an infrastructure context.
- Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS Certified Developer, Azure Developer Associate, etc.) or relevant automation/DevOps technologies.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Familiarity with Chaos Engineering principles and practices.
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
