Position Overview
The Managing Director of Express Scripts and En Guide Pharmacies will lead enterprise-wide strategy, innovation, and execution across two of Evernorth’s most critical pharmacy platforms. This role is pivotal in driving sustained profitable growth, optimizing client and member experience, and delivering differentiated value across payer, patient, prescriber, and pharma channels. The leader will oversee strategic planning, go-to-market execution, and cross-functional alignment across both pharmacies, ensuring seamless integration and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the strategic direction and execution for Express Scripts and En Guide Pharmacies, aligning with Evernorth’s broader pharmacy and care delivery goals. Develop and communicate a compelling vision that inspires teams and stakeholders across the enterprise.

Drive market differentiation through innovative pharmacy solutions, including digital engagement, supply chain optimization, and integrated care models. Identify and capitalize on emerging trends in consumer-driven pharmacy, virtual care, and specialty services.

Lead the development and execution of targeted marketing campaigns designed to capture strategic market share by influencing patient and physician choice and aligning incentives across clients, ensuring measurable enterprise impact and growth.

Provide strategic leadership with Finance and Analytics partners to design, deploy, and continuously evolve flexible enterprise value models that anticipate and respond to a dynamic pharmacy landscape, ensuring alignment with the growth objectives of The Cigna Group and Evernorth.

Build and sustain strong relationships across matrixed teams including Product, Operations, Clinical, Technology, Analytics, and Commercial. Influence senior leaders (MDs, VPs, GMs, SVPs) to align priorities and resolve conflicts.

Serves as enterprise voice with key clients, coalitions, health systems, and government entities. Shape and execute multi-year strategies tailored to diverse market segments including Employer, Public Sector, Federal, DOD, and strategic partners like Centene and Prime.

Build and develop high-performing, agile teams. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Partner with HR to drive workforce strategy and leadership development.

Act as proxy for the SVP on critical enterprise matters requiring strategic prioritization and executive decision-making. Represent pharmacy interests in enterprise forums and governance bodies.
Qualifications
-
15 years of progressive leadership experience in pharmacy, PBM, or healthcare strategy.

Proven success in leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives in regulated environments.

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Executive presence with exceptional communication and influence skills.

Strong financial acumen.

Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, challenge the status quo, and deliver measurable outcomes.

Deep understanding of pharmacy operations, supply chain, and payer dynamics.
-
Experience engaging with senior stakeholders across diverse market segments.
