Ciena is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Illustrator / Visio Stencil Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in creating and maintaining a comprehensive library of accurate Visio stencils representing Ciena's cutting-edge portfolio of telecommunications equipment. These stencils serve as essential tools for internal teams and external partners, enabling the creation of network diagrams, documentation, and proposals.

How You Will Contribute:

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of Visio stencils for Ciena’s optical, routing, and switching equipment, ensuring physical and logical representations are accurate.
• Ensure stencils reflect the latest product specifications, including dimensions, visual characteristics, and metadata/descriptive properties.
• Apply a consistent visual style aligned with Ciena’s branding across all Visio stencils.
• Publish and maintain a comprehensive index of Ciena Visio stencils in line with Product Content Development team practices.
• Follow standardized processes for stencil creation, review, and approval to ensure quality and consistency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Design, Product Line Management, Sales Engineering, Customer Support, and Marketing.
• Manage interactions with external Visio stencil producers, including reviews, iterations, and purchase orders.

The Must Haves:

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in technical illustration, preferably focused on telecommunications or networking equipment.
• Proven expertise in creating and maintaining Microsoft Visio stencils, including advanced features such as shapes, collections, metadata, snap points, and VBA macros.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications networking concepts and equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation, engineering drawings, and product specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and macros.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Professional experience as a content librarian.

Nice to Haves:

• Experience with SVG software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator).
• Familiarity with 3D modeling and CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Creo).
• Proficiency in developing structured technical documentation (e.g., DITA XML).
• Knowledge of Generative AI use cases and metadata for producing AI-ready content.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting or Python programming to build automation solutions.
• Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective organizational and time management skills.

Pay Range:

$71,900.00 - $114,900.00 CAD

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
