The S&T Contracts team manage and sustain core business services to the Supply & Trading organization. Based in Houston, London and Singapore, the global Contracts group supports contract requirements for the Supply and Trading business.
Following the transition of transactional contract activities to Global Business Services (“GBS”) in Buenos Aires and Manila, this role has evolved to focus on strategic oversight, contract set-up for new business, standardisation, and continuous improvement.
As a Senior Contract Specialist and subject matter expert, this role owns the global governance, review and rollout of General Terms and Conditions (“GTCs”) and has accountability for executing training initiatives to build contract fluency.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: Global GTC Ownership & Governance
- Act as the global owner and GTCs specialist for General Terms and Conditions.
- Establish and rollout a single, globally governed GTCs review, approval, and maintenance process, including defined review cadences (e.g. annual or regulatory-driven updates)
- Develop and maintain a centralised global repository of approved GTCs, including guidance, recommendations and red-flag positions.
- Provide initial core GTCs review and assessment and coordinate SME input across regions and functions.
- Provide expert advice on GTCs application, exceptions and risk.
- Negotiate GTCs side letters with strategic or top customers.
- Partner closely with GBS to support consistent application of GTCs.
- Monitor and report on GTCs usage, deviations and trends.
Training & Capability Building
- Design and deliver targeted training for contract fluency initiatives (e.g. Contract 101, Incoterms, GTC guidance) for GBS, front office and key internal business partners.
In addition to GTC ownership and Training, this role has accountability for Specialist Contract Support as follows:

Support contract-related activities for acquisitions and/or business integrations i.e. CREG, including integration into existing contract frameworks, standards and operating models.

Act as a senior escalation point for complex or high-risk contractual matters.

Lead the end-to-end development and review process for Master Agreements, tracking progress and providing regular status reports.

Timely and accurately prepare higher-complexity, higher-risk or non-standard contracts and terms including but not limited to:

Natural Gas contracts (EFET Master Agreement Appendices, Gas Supply Agreements, Physical Swap Agreements) for Natural Gas Europe (NGE) a section of GSAT in S&T, active in UK, Denmark, Germany & Netherlands.

LNG contracts (MSPAs and Confirmation Notices)

Enable stronger commercial outcomes by enhancing pre‑ and post‑negotiation support through operational, financial and legal analysis of contract terms and exposures, giving the front office clear visibility of risk‑reward dynamics

Enable robust, fit‑for‑purpose contracting by partnering closely with the front office and internal stakeholders to align agreements with internal controls, risk frameworks and efficient processes and systems.

Liaising with Traders/Trading Analysts to resolve trade discrepancies as required.

Liaise and negotiate agreeable contract terms with counterparts, state companies and partners.

Administer all contract work from initiation through to completion/execution.

Lead/support internal and industry led contract simplification.

Drive automation initiatives that enhance efficiency through emerging automation and AI capabilities.

Work in a fast-moving commercial environment with multiple stakeholders, agreeing priorities and workload in line with business needs and expectations.

Acts as the go-to specialist for GTC related matters, partnering closely with GBS, Legal and global stakeholders.

Executes training initiatives to build contract fluency across GBS, the front office and key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in oil/products/nat gas/LNG trading contracts (in contract practice and/or Legal)
- Strong understanding of financial, operational and legal risks.
- Strong understanding of Oil Major GTC, reviewing counterparties’ GT&Cs/negotiating Side Letters.
- Experience operating as a senior SME.
- Proven ability to support and develop specialist capability.
- Strong experience with standardisation and governance.
- Experience working within a shared services or offshore operating model.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complexity into clear guidance.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Proactive – Can do attitude.
- Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Customer-focused with good planning and organizational skills.
- A team player with strong interpersonal and motivational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s in Law, Business and Administration and/or Supply Chain.
- Knowledge of trading systems e.g.: Endur and/or Right Angle.
- Experience with CLM systems or contract automation tools.
- Exposure to AI-enabled document review or workflow automation.
- Continuous improvement or process optimisation experience.
Relocation Options:
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
International Considerations:
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
