Role Definition:
Leads and coordinates all activities for a team developing a product, component or system.
Responsibilities:
- Provides technical support, and direction to teams and team leaders. Acquires resources necessary to accomplish work on time.
- Oversees performance of individual team members and team as a whole. Identifies and addresses staff training and development needs.
- Coordinates walkthroughs and reviews; ensures conformance to standards and adherence to design specifications.
- Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports. Monitors and troubleshoots performance and schedule issues.

Products and Services: Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.
Level Working Knowledge:
- Obtains information about product and service linkages with other products and services elsewhere in organization.
- Researches the target market and how the product and services are sold and delivered.
- Explains current status, delivery alternatives and announced updates to products and services.
- Summarizes key features of major products or services in own unit.
- Assesses own unit's product alternatives, costs, and pricing.
Organizational Leadership: Knowledge of leadership concepts and ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives.
Level Extensive Experience:
- Employs various group decision-making methods depending on the situation.
- Promotes efficacy through monitoring, coaching & motivating subordinates, intervention, etc.
- Translates vision into specific functional or departmental initiatives.
- Uses emotional contagion to affect the mood of group members, tone of group and group processes.
- Uses a normative decision model (with leadership styles and situational variables) to select style.
- Initiates structure: role clarification, setting standards, holding subordinates accountable, etc.
Software Development: Knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements.
Level Expert:
- Oversees the evaluation and selection of developer's workbench and tool-kits.
- Contributes to the development of best practices.
- Monitors industry benchmarks for effectiveness of development; makes recommendations.
- Introduces new software product development approaches that expedite or simplify delivery.
- Demonstrates significant experience in building complex software products or systems.
- Discusses process and criteria for determining best development process and tools.
Software Development Life Cycle: Knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace.
Level Extensive Experience:
- Explains how to use multiple, vendor-provided or in-house structured methodologies.
- Describes tasks, tools and practices for converting software product requirements into a design.
- Demonstrates experience with all phases and deliverables of the product development methodology.
- Implements the generic functions, features and facilities of modern structured methods.
- Explores and evaluates major structured methodologies available in the marketplace.
- Consults on effective application of structured product development methodologies.
Software Integration Engineering: Knowledge of software integration processes and functions; ability to design, develop and maintain interfaces and linkage to alternative platforms and software packages.
Level Extensive Experience:
- Works on designing scalable and efficient ETL models and templates.
- Compares and contrasts Integration issues with different operating systems and architectures.
- Consults on the design and development of customized interfaces for specific clients.
- Demonstrates experience with developing interfaces for multiple software partners and platforms.
- Explains requirements and considerations for data movement that involve platform conversion.
- Oversees the analysis, design and development of transformation codes.
Software Product Design/Architecture: Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into the software product design.
Level Extensive Experience:
- Demonstrates experience with the architecture and design of major or multiple products.
- Describes major software architecture alternatives and considerations.
- Explains design considerations for commercial database systems, operating systems and web.
- Displays experience in estimating the cost of a specific design of a proposed product.
- Facilitates design reviews and walkthroughs.
- Analyzes benefits and drawbacks of specific software designs and architecture.
Software Quality Assurance and Testing: Knowledge of software quality assurance and testing; ability to apply appropriate processes, tools, and techniques for assuring a high level of quality in computer software products and systems.
Level Extensive Experience:
- Consults on quality metrics and benchmarks; assess QA contribution.
- Interprets results of quantitative and statistical tools and presents to others.
- Coordinates execution of test plans, including resources, strategy, schedules, processes and tools.
- Communicates benefits and costs of a quality management process vis-a-vis costs of poor quality.
- Provides insight into the full spectrum of approaches for quality assuring of technology products.
- Can discuss pros and cons of alternative quality assurance and testing methods.
IT Service Management (ITSM): Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) service; ability to manage IT services and oversee service operations.
Level Expert:
- Oversees the establishment and use of best practices in IT service management.
- Leads in the development of information technology and personal technical skills.
- Promotes the use of standard procedures in each function of IT services.
- Creates criteria to measure professional services; ensures the quality of IT services.
- Forecasts technological industry trends and potential risks in IT service management.
- Provides insight into system optimization and development of process-focused IT services.
Relocation is available for this position.
