Description:
Experienced/Subject Matter Expert (SME) level Marine Engineer with proven shipboard experience and comprehensive knowledge of T-AO 187 Class vessels' current condition and operational status. Must possess extensive expertise in ship systems and machinery, particularly equipment currently installed aboard the T-AO 187 Class. The ideal candidate will leverage their firsthand operational knowledge to lead complex projects, providing valuable industrial and operational insights specific to these vessels. Demonstrates thorough working knowledge of navigating technical manuals and operational procedures across all systems and compartments of the T-AO 187 Class. Works collaboratively across engineering disciplines to review specifications, conduct rigorous analyses, evaluate proposed modifications, and develop implementation strategies. Creates comprehensive technical documentation including operational manuals, engineering briefs, detailed calculation reports, and precise specifications that incorporate practical shipboard experience to ensure optimal vessel performance and reliability throughout the lifecycle of the Class.
Job Description:
CACI is seeking a senior level engineer to work with a dynamic team of ship Marine/Mechanical/Electrical/Structural engineers and Naval Architects. You will be technical lead for the T-AO 187 Class Outyear Engineering Requirements Assessment (OERA) as part of an engineering team primarily in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Military Sealift Command (MSC).
What You’ll Get to Do: Provide Systems engineering support for T-AO 187 Class Vessels.
Provide support to shipboard engineering systems.
Work with stakeholders.
Use, maintain, and improve document authoring and drafting practices and tools to develop reports, manuals, and drawings with high efficiency and accuracy.
Lead team to carry out Outyear Engineering Requirements for various class of ships including the T-AO 187 Double Hull Class.
Design and develop interfaces between ship systems and new equipment.
Author and develop design reports to accompany in-service modifications to ship systems.
Develop advanced proficiency in 2D drafting practices to improve in-service modification.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications: BSME in Marine Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience aboard a T-AO 187 Class Oiler, ideally on the Double Hull (T-AO 201, 203, or 204).
Experience with government contracts and in-service ship repair and ship new construction for DOD Vessels.
Project Management skills.
Ability to write concise reports and specifications in English with minimal oversight in MS Word making use of features such as styles, fields, and references.
Extensive experience in ship design, modification, or maintenance projects.
Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to work alone on individual projects with minimal supervision and with other Engineering Disciplines on a team.
Ability to interface with team members, technical leads, and Project Managers.
Ability to review and apply US Navy and/or US commercial ship design requirements, including DOD acquisition, system safety, and testing processes.
Good verbal (English) communication skills.
Willingness to travel ≤10% of the time.
Must be a US Citizen.
Ability to Obtain a Clearance.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: Active USCG Coastguard License 1AE Unlimited Horsepower or Greater.
Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D.
Chief Engineer experience in shipboard or shipyard role.
15 Years Shipboard and/or shipyard design, operation, or repair experience.
Engineering and Technical Authority (E&TA) Familiarization training.
Apply working knowledge of maritime regulations, classification society rules, and industry standards to ensure compliance.
Provide technical support for in-service vessels throughout their lifecycle, leveraging past industrial and operational experience to solve complex engineering challenges.
Active Secret Clearance.

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$90,300-$189,600
