About the role
Accomplishes physical and financial trades with external counter parties and customers, both on behalf of BP's businesses, managing physical supply and exposure; as well as for entrepreneurial purposes using market intelligence data.
The role of the 3rd Party Team is to ensure trades are recorded and settled (payments and receivables) in an accurate and timely manner. This requires a thorough understanding of the deal life cycle (from trade execution through to physical delivery and final settlement). Transactions can be very high value and with sophisticated terms and conditions, requiring efficient problem-solving skills.
The 3rd Party Settlements Team is responsible for managing operational cash and working capital on behalf of T&S (c70% of bp's turnover is managed through the T&S 3rd Party Teams). The team produces a daily cash funding forecast for Treasury Management purposes.
In this role You will
- Manage a portfolio of 3rd parties for settlement of financial and physical transactions.
- Accountable for the accurate and timely completion of Settlements activities within area of responsibility, which include:
- Generate customer invoices and supporting documentation
- Settle all 3rd party transactions per contractual terms
- Ensure funds are received and paid on time and accurately; liaise with counterparties should any discrepancies occur; provide thorough explanations for any outstanding balances
- Provide accurate details of projected cash flows to enable BP Treasury to manage daily and weekly cash requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with T&S commercial teams
- Ensure full compliance with the BP T&S Settlements Policy
- Ensure delivery of high-quality customer service
- Manage aged debt and cash forecasting
- Deal with a wide variety of ad-hoc queries timely and raise as appropriate
- Identify and assist in delivering continuous Improvement ideas
- Actively participate and support projects as appropriate
- Provide exceptional internal and external customer service in order to build and strengthen relationships
What You will need to be successful
- Relevant finance degree.
- Experience in finance or accounting
- Level C1 English language knowledge
- Ability to work minimum of 7 days evening shift working per month (14:00-22:30)
- Understanding of Accounts Payable and Receivable settlement principles
- SAP experience
- Creating and delivering Continuous Improvements ideas (e.g. process change and/or automation & reporting changes)
- Experience in trading settlements is an advantage & understanding of commodity trading lifecycle (deal execution/entry to settlement) is an advantage.
