I.   Assignment Purpose/Scope: What are the key objectives of the position?

Material Flow and Lineside Planning Team member responsible for supporting logistics planning initiatives across the plant.  Team member will support series changes and new vehicle launches across both assembly halls, bodyshop and/or with integrating new logistics innovation projects. There are multiple positions with logistics planning that will focus on different areas of the plant.

 

II. Assignment Qualifications: List the preferred degrees/skills for this position.

a.     Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field

b.     Microsoft Office Proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

c.     Detail-oriented

d.     Programming knowledge preferred.

e.     Self-Starter

 

III.  Assignment Duties: List the major duties/accountabilities of this position.

a.     Supporting implementation of autonomous logistics vehicles in the plant

b.     Running of weekly/monthly reporting documents

c.     Lineside Transition Organization and Support for series packages

d.     Logistics parts list checks and maintenance

e.     Head count planning for logistics processes for new vehicle launches

f.      Planning of floor space for part storage (high bay racking, block storage, supermarkets)

g.     Planning material flow deliveries for future derivatives

h.     Maintaining BMW layouts using layout software

 

IV. Assignment Projects: List possible projects to be completed this assignment

a.     Future Model Evaluation Run

b.     Dashboard Enhancements for KPI Reporting

c.     Autonomous Rollout Plan

a.     Planning implementation of Smart Transport Robots (STRs), Autonomous tugger trains, autonomous forklifts, and autonomous yard hostlers

b.     Planning and evaluating use cases

c.     Planning of routes, points of interest, and call off process

d.     Creation of KPI tracking for performance

e.     Supporting of fault resolution

 

 

V.  Assignment Training Plan (Technical and Process Skill Development): List any training the student will receive on BMW specific systems and processes (such as PQM, TAIS, CAMS, CATIA, Nuclos, etc.)

a.     LPP

b.     MILES

c.     SAP

d.     Visio/Microstation

e.       IPS -I, -L, -T

f.        ATS

g.       IPOLOG

 

VI.  Assignment Development Plan: List any understanding, skills, and abilities the student will gain in this assignment.

a.       Project Management and Time Management

b.       Training on AGV Upper Level System (ATS)

c.       Organizational Skills

d.       Knowledge fo BMW launch process

e.       Communication & facilitation skills

f.        Planning of a Project through Completion

g.       Modifying existing manual processes and structures to work with autonomous vehicles.
