The Senior Director of Media leads the end-to-end media strategy for the organization, overseeing brand marketing, shopper marketing, and agency partnerships. This role ensures that media investments across the full funnel — from brand storytelling to point-of-sale conversion — work together to drive growth, strengthen customer relationships, and maximize ROI. The leader in this role brings together teams across creative, CRM, brand strategy, measurement, product, operations, retail, and procurement to build a unified media ecosystem that supports both long-term brand equity and short-term sales performance. This role partners extensively with the Best Buy Ads team in building out best-in-class media plans for our advertising partners.
This role is remote eligible, which means you will work virtually from home or another non Best Buy location. As part of this role, there will be travel between Chicago, New York, and Minnesota, estimated at approximately 10–25%. The specific work arrangements and travel cadence may vary by role and team, with additional details shared by the recruiter or hiring manager during the hiring process.
What you’ll do- Develop and own the enterprise media strategy across brand and shopper touchpoints, ensuring alignment with company goals, category priorities, and retail partner strategies.
- Build a cohesive full funnel approach that connects brand awareness, consideration, and instore/online conversion and guide media investments across channels with a data-driven and customer first approach.
- Establish a unified measurement framework spanning brand equity, media effectiveness, and retail performance.
- Ensure media investments deliver strong ROI and support continuous improvement by championing advanced analytics and measurement (e.g. MMM, MTA, incrementality testing, clean room analysis/insights)
- Serve as a senior advisor to executive leadership on media trends, retail media innovation, and emerging technologies.
- Develop best-in-class agency management practice
- Establish advanced audience strategy function and build a capability roadmap to identify and activate growth opportunities. Partners closely with cross functional teams (customer analytics, product, and category teams) and capabilities (e.g. clean rooms, CDP, on-boarding partners).
- Establish media partnerships, integrate, and co-partner with cross functional leaders on enterprise JBPs
- Build a roadmap and partner with product team to modernize our media capabilities, with a laser focus on both efficiency (in plans and execution) and effectiveness
- Develop a high performing team and culture that fosters collaboration, data driven decision making, and a continuously improving mindset
Basic qualifications- 12 years of experience in media strategy across brand and shopper environments, ideally within retail or consumer focused industries - 8 years of experience in leadership, communication, and stakeholder management roles
- 8 years of experience in full funnel media planning, retail media networks, and/or omnichannel marketing
- Proven success managing large budgets, complex agency ecosystems, and cross functional teams
- Strong analytical mindset with experience in media measurement, attribution, and performance optimization
