AT&T is seeking a Lead Software Engineer based in Plano, TX. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions to transform industry-standard order, delivery, coaching, and management systems. You will collaborate closely with Operations teams to develop and enhance AT&T’s software platforms, working on new features, enhancements, defect resolution throughout the development lifecycle. You will deliver robust, scalable systems, contribute to technical discussions, and mentor less experienced team members in a collaborative, agile environment focused on continuous improvements and innovation.

What you’ll do:

  • Contribute to the development of both Frontend (UI) and Backend (BFF) layers utilizing Typescript/JavaScript.

  • Create and support the development of responsive/adaptive/native web applications.

  • Employ engineering techniques to build high-performance pages, user and browser friendly and device agnostic UI/Web solutions.

  • Take ownership of key technical deliverables across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Effectively use Git Hub Co-pilot across SDLC for pair programming, unit test cases, and automation test cases.

  • Leverage AI-driven tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Agentic AI) and stay current with emerging technologies.

  • Implement data persistence solutions using SQL and No SQL databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure SQL).

  • Use modern testing frameworks, code review, static analysis (Lint, Prettier, Veracode, Sonar Qube), and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Terraform).

  • Design and implement APIs (REST, Open API, Swagger) and support event-driven architectures (Kafka, IEBUS).

  • Contribute to cloud-native development using Azure, Docker, j Frog, and Kubernetes.

  • Partner with Enterprise, Application Architecture teams and contribute to the detailed design and architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainable software.

  • Focus on scalability, security, and availability of all applications and processes.

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document new and existing components to ensure that software meets business, quality, and operational needs.

  • Implement all critical NFRs defined at solution level.

  • Constantly improve performance with the help of application monitoring tools such as t Trace, Quantum Metrics, etc.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.

As a Lead Software Engineering professional, recognized as an expert, you will be responsible for creatively resolving complex issues with broad and in-depth knowledge. Leads significant projects with strategic autonomy, influencing executive decisions. Mentors less experienced staff, implements long-term plans impacting the organization, and frequently collaborates with senior leadership. Design, develop/code, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality software solutions, ensuring efficient delivery processes and production support with a focus on automation and industry best practices. Designs and codes complex applications and is an SME for specific programming languages, applications or modules of large complex applications. Has a wide technology knowledge and tools, as well as methodology. Fosters agile and growth mindset and create innovation and impact.

  • Knowledge Infrastructure & Cloud Management - provisioning, configuring, and managing Azure resources (Resource Groups, Storage Accounts, App Services, Azure App Center, etc.).

  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Git

Hub Actions or Azure DevOps:

  • Ability to manage secrets and sensitive data using Azure Key Vault and Git Hub repository secrets

  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and their services

  • Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic environment

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize initiatives

  • Excellent team player and commitment to continuous learning and improvement

  • Desired Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, or Math; or Developer nanodegree; or equivalent experience preferred.

Our Lead Software Engineering earns between $143,800 - $215,800 annually. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
