Senior Cloud Technical Lead, Infrastructure Finance

About the Role

Imagine what you could do here. At Apple, new ideas have a way of becoming great products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Bring passion and dedication to your job and there's no telling what you could accomplish! Do you love thinking analytically? Are you passionate about using your financial knowledge to navigate sophisticated challenges? Just as our customers find value in Apple products, the Finance group finds value for both Apple and its shareholders.

As a Senior Cloud Technical Lead in the Infrastructure Finance organization, you will shape the financial and business strategy of our internal cloud services and platforms. You'll develop and own economic models that quantify cost, efficiency, and return on investment, partnering closely with engineering to evaluate capacity, performance, and scaling trade-offs. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role at the intersection of finance, capacity, engineering, and strategy—ideal for a proven leader who combines deep curiosity with the ability to turn complex data into actionable insight and long-term value.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain cost and economic models across compute, storage, and network platforms
  • Design internal chargeback frameworks and strategic pricing structures
  • Lead strategic business reviews with senior leadership to align infrastructure strategy with financial outcomes
  • Deliver financial insights and recommendations that guide trade-offs between performance, resilience, and cost
  • Build frameworks for build-vs-buy evaluations and investment decision-making
  • Partner with engineering to identify and drive cost-efficiency and optimization opportunities
  • Conduct comparative analysis of private- vs. public-cloud infrastructure economics
  • Champion process improvements, tooling enhancements, and automation

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience with cloud services and infrastructure platforms, including deep exposure to public cloud (AWS, GCP) and private/on-prem environments
  • 5+ years of relevant experience within a Finance team, with exposure to forecasting, fiscal planning, cost allocations, and core accounting principles
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or a related quantitative field

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9+ years of experience with cloud services and infrastructure platforms, including deep exposure to public cloud (AWS, GCP) and private/on-prem environments
  • Expertise in financial cost modeling, TCO analysis, and capital investment evaluation
  • Deep understanding of the cloud and infrastructure stack—compute, storage, network systems, and hyperscale platform ecosystems
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with engineering and technical teams to align financial and operational goals
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Excel, with the ability to analyze and interpret large, complex financial, engineering, and operational datasets
  • Highly organized, action-oriented, and accountable, with a track record of integrity and follow-through
  • MBA, CFA, or advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
  • Deep knowledge of datacenter architecture, including compute, storage, networking, and virtualization
  • Experience with Fin Ops (financial operations), particularly capacity modeling, forecasting, cost optimization and scenario planning for large-scale infrastructure
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders, including engineering, finance, supply chain, and executive teams
  • Prior experience within a hyperscale cloud provider, data-center operator, or enterprise infrastructure planning team
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and storytelling skills, capable of translating complex data into executive-ready insights
