Apple Maps

  • Places Lead

About the Role

Apple Maps empowers people to explore and navigate the world around them. We work on solving large-scale problems - like how to map every inch of the globe - while delivering beautiful, intuitive, and innovative experiences across billions of devices. As Places Lead for Apple Maps, you'll define and execute a product vision that helps people discover, explore, and connect with the world around them. This role requires close collaboration with teams across the larger Apple ecosystem including Engineering, Design, Data Operations, Marketing, PR, and Business Development, among others.

Description

Places are the foundation of how people experience Apple Maps. Every restaurant, store, park, museum, and destination - along with the rich information that brings them to life - exist within Places. From detailed business information and ratings to curated Guides that help people find the best a city has to offer, Places help users navigate the world with confidence and discover new favorites along the way.

As our world becomes more connected and people's expectations for personalized, intelligent experiences grow, Maps needs to understand not just where places are, but what makes them meaningful. Apple Maps is ready to meet those challenges and is looking for someone to help build and execute a vision for the future of Places.

You'll work closely with Maps leadership to define strategy and partner with key stakeholders across Apple to bring your collective vision to life. You'll balance the needs of consumers, developers, business partners, and data operations teams. You'll think about how privacy-first experiences can help people discover and explore the world around them. And you'll ensure that every place on the map - from major landmarks to neighborhood favorites - is represented with the detail and accuracy people expect from Apple.

This is a hands-on role. You'll set the direction and drive execution. You'll think years ahead while shipping features today. And you'll ensure that Places are a cornerstone of what makes Apple Maps exceptional.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of product management experience with a proven track record of shipping consumer products at scale
  • Demonstrated ability to define product vision and translate it into successful roadmaps and shipped features
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to present to large groups and executives
  • Demonstrated creative and innovative problem solving and willingness to take the lead where needed
  • Ability to successfully organize, prioritize and manage multiple complex initiatives under strict schedules
  • Proven success collaborating cross-functionally across diverse, distributed teams with competing priorities and timelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building products in the mapping, local discovery, or places space
  • Deep interest in and understanding of applied AI, ML, and LLM technologies and their application to discovery and personalization
  • Knowledge and experience working with international teams and understanding global market dynamics
  • Experience engaging with developer communities and platform ecosystems
  • Understanding of privacy-first product development and on-device intelligence
