The Team
Strategic Partnerships manages and grows the most significant enterprise relationships across American Express. The team is responsible for defining multi-year partnership strategies, supporting key negotiations and projects, and driving new business opportunities globally with our largest Blue Box partners. It exists to deliver against three core objectives: (1) foster and maintain external relationships, (2) support and develop partner strategies that maximize value to customers and the enterprise, and (3) bring the best of Amex to drive growth and innovation.
The Role:
This Senior Manager will report to the Director, AI + Tech Partnerships, and will help drive thought leadership across AI strategy while supporting our critical B2B partnerships with Microsoft and Dell. Success in this role will require deep knowledge of the partners and their priorities, comfort working in white space as we look to unlock new sources of value, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues and partners to achieve partnership outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual interested in furthering general management and business development skills in an environment where innovation is highly valued and encouraged.
The Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships (B35) requires proven relationship management skills, strong business development acumen, and knowledge of the agentic commerce and payments ecosystem.

Key Job Responsibilities

Partner Leadership: Own day-to-day management of strategic AI and technology partnerships, developing deep understanding of AI business models, partner priorities, and identifying new value-creation opportunities. Drive cross-functional collaboration (product, marketing, legal, risk) to deliver integrated partnership outcomes.

Deal & Contract Execution: Lead end-to-end partnership development, including ideation, negotiation, contracting, and go-to-market execution for key B2B partners.

Strategic Thought Leadership: Inform enterprise AI and digital wallet strategy by delivering insights on emerging trends (AI, agentic commerce, payments innovation), competitive dynamics, and regulatory considerations. Translate complex opportunities into clear, actionable strategies aligned to enterprise priorities.

Culture & Leadership: support SP’s broader culture of growth, accountability, and retention.

Minimum Qualifications
-
Demonstrated success managing complex partner relationships, negotiations, and business development initiatives

Experience in technology, agentic commerce, payments, B2B or AI partnerships

Strong ability to lead cross - functional efforts and manage multiple strategic priorities

Outstanding written and verbal communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work with partners across different functions, colleagues at all levels, and with partners

Comfort with ambiguity, intellectual curiosity, and ability to structure net-new opportunities

Self-starter with the ability to excel in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment and switch gears as required

Bachelors degree required
Salary Range: $103,750.00 to $174,750.00 annually + bonus + benefits
