Analyst – Strategic Planning
How will you make an impact in this role?
This role is designed for a highly analytical and business-oriented professional who will serve as a strategic thought partner to the organization.
The Analyst – Strategic Planning will combine strong analytical capabilities with deep business acumen to support strategic decision-making within the Credit Card ecosystem. The candidate will bring a solid understanding of industry dynamics, competitive landscape, emerging technologies, and evolving customer behaviors, translating complex analyses into actionable strategic recommendations.
This individual will proactively identify risks and growth opportunities, support long-term planning processes, and contribute to shaping business priorities. The role requires the ability to quickly ramp up on the Amex business model, financial drivers, KPIs, and enterprise value creation levers.
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, structured in problem-solving, and able to connect data insights with commercial outcomes. Strong executive communication skills in Spanish and English are essential, as this role will frequently engage with senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Business Insights

Support the development of short- and long-term strategic plans aligned with enterprise objectives.

Conduct market, competitive, and industry analyses to inform business strategy.

Translate analytical findings into clear strategic recommendations tied to financial and commercial impact.

Develop business cases and scenario analyses to evaluate new initiatives and investments.

Identify key risks and opportunities and propose mitigation or acceleration strategies.
Performance Management & Financial Analysis

Monitor and analyze key business KPIs to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.

Support forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking processes.

Partner with Finance and cross-functional teams to assess performance drivers and variance analysis.
Customer & Market Intelligence

Leverage data to generate insights on customer behavior, profitability, and segmentation.

Support targeting strategies and value proposition development through analytical insights.
-
Analyze trends across channels, campaigns, and customer segments to optimize business performance.
Executive Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Prepare high-impact executive presentations with clear storytelling and actionable recommendations.

Simplify complex analyses into concise business narratives.

Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment and execution of strategic initiatives.

Influence decision-making through data-driven insights and structured frameworks.
Qualifications

Strong understanding of the Credit Card / Banking industry ecosystem.

Highly developed analytical, quantitative, and structured problem-solving skills.

Advanced proficiency in Python, R, SAS, or SQL.

Experience in financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning.

Ability to translate raw data into strategic insights and business recommendations.

Strong knowledge of KPI governance, planning processes, and performance management.

Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Tableau.

Strong communication skills (Spanish and English), both verbal and written.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
