- Program Manager
Product Planning
THE ROLE:
The Program Manager in AECG Product Panning plays a key leadership role in driving Adaptive, Embedded and Semi-custom program execution. This role is pivotal in driving cross-functional teams with a strong focus on product definition during concept, feasibility and planning phases.
THE PERSON: We are seeking a strong technical and execution-oriented program manager to drive early-phase program execution for Semi-custom Programs and next-generation Adaptive So Cs, FPGAs, and Embedded solutions within AMD’s AECG Product Planning organization. This individual will play a critical role in shaping and enabling the roadmap by leading programs through Concept, Feasibility, and Plan phases, ensuring cross-functional alignment and readiness for full product development. One of the key responsibility of this role will be to drive early-phase engagement for semi-custom programs, including managing customer requirements, technical and business contract inputs, and ensuring clarity between OEM/customer needs and AMD engineering teams.
This is a high-impact, highly visible role ideal for someone with deep semiconductor experience, strong technical grounding, and exceptional program leadership skills.
-
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Semi-Custom Program Contract Management (Early Engagement)
-
Act as the point person for early-phase semi-custom engagements with customers and OEM partners and manage RFI, RFQ, Award and contract management.
-
Partner with Legal, Business Development, and Engineering to support contract structures (NDAs, SoW, Development Agreements, Purchase Agreements, Specifications, Timelines).
-
Ensure internal teams understand customer-specific requirements, customizing program deliverables accordingly.
-
Develop clear program artifacts for semi-custom proposals including NRE estimates, and engineering feasibility outcomes.
-
2. Early-Phase Program Leadership (Concept → Feasibility → Plan)
-
Lead Adaptive SoC and Embedded roadmap programs from initial concept through Plan exit.
-
Drive cross-functional deliverables across architecture, silicon engineering, operations, software, marketing, and finance.
-
Ensure program requirements (MRDs, PRDs, feature definitions, power/performance targets) are clear, validated, and documented.
-
Facilitate engineering scoping, resource planning, and SoC/FW/SW feasibility studies.
-
Run gate reviews and secure alignment with senior leadership on scope, risks, and commitments.
-
3.
Technical & Cross-Functional Leadership:
-
Translate high-level product strategy into technical and program requirements.
-
Challenge engineering assumptions, ask the right technical questions, and ensure feasibility validation.
-
Serve as a technical partner to architecture teams—understanding Adaptive SoC, FPGA, NoC, memory, and IP integration implications.
-
Proactively identify integration risks, schedule bottlenecks, and technical dependencies.
-
4.
Executive Communication & Stakeholder Management:
- Prepare and deliver program-level updates to Product Planning, Engineering, and Executive leadership.
- Provide transparent risk/mitigation views and ensure decisions are documented and tracked.
- Drive accountability across functional teams to hit gate criteria on time.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated experience in the semiconductor industry (SoC, FPGA, ASIC, embedded system design, or architecture) in program and product management roles.
- Strong familiarity with semi-custom engagements, customer requirements translation, or technical contract support.
- Exposure to embedded markets (industrial, automotive, aerospace & defense, communications).
- Experience leading programs or technical teams in early-phase product lifecycle: concept, feasibility, architecture, and planning phases.
- Solid understanding of silicon development flows, IP integration, verification, firmware/software dependencies, and system-level architecture.
- Proven track record managing cross-functional engineering and business teams in a highly matrixed environment.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills with a proven ability to influence across organizations including engineering and business stakeholders.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is desired
LOCATION:
- San Jose
