SENIOR MANAGER SILICON DESIGN ENGINEER:

LOCATION: Hybrid role in Gdansk

THE ROLE:

AMD seeks a passionate, collaborative leader with strong technical skills and the initiative to motivate an expert team. You will manage a Silicon Engineering group and innovate with internal teams and external partners to create the next generation of computing technologies. As Sr. Manager of Software Modelling, you will be driving software models across AMD’s GPU roadmap, including Radeon Gaming GPUs, Instinct Data Centre GPUs and Client APUs. You will support the advanced architecture, IP & SW architecture and IP & SW design teams with AMD, driving key decision making and strategic business objectives.

We are looking for a manager to take on team, grow and project management of the high performing EMEA software modelling team. You will be responsible for the management of a team to support key roadmap projects, growing the team, long-term career development, reviews, mentorship, and associated organization for this engineering team, as it scales.

You will be supporting local and global team, ensure the roadmap, agreed features and timelines are clearly articulated to all team members. You will work with block owners, other engineering and management teams, and stakeholders to ensure all work is appropriately scheduled and resourced. You will track progress and important metrics, following up as appropriate to ensure tasks are correctly prioritised, and report progress at executive level.

You will take on a pivotal role in ensuring timely and successful deliveries by the team.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate has experience leading others in technical and managerial settings. You should have excellent communication, writing, presentation, strong analytical/problem-solving, organisational skills, and program management skills. You are self-directed, a strategic problem solver, able to handle complexity and ambiguity. Finally, you can work effectively and lead through influence in a cross-functional/matrixed organisation. You should be keen to make a real world difference in graphics and compute technology. Want to achieve the best image quality and customer experience, whilst minimising bandwidth, power and chip area and maximizing performance and feature set; excited by the challenges these goals create.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a high-performance engineering team
  • Form a team and nurture talent
  • Lead team, meet schedule commitments and provide strong support to customers
  • Collaborate with multi-functional leaders to drive AMD's success

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • A strong leader with experience working with a distributed team

  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills

  • Proven experience managing and leading engineering teams

  • Prior experience in optimizing performance (client, server, system, or embedded)

  • Strong system and software engineering background

  • Strong communications skills. Able to summarize complex problems for executives as well as drill down to details with architects and engineers

  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills including the ability to analyze current behavior, identify potential areas for improvement and design of experiments

  • Must be a self-starter and self-motivated

  • Prior experience Managing technical teams

  • Experience of Graphics APIs such DirectX, Vulkan and OGL, Compute APIs such HIP and Cuda, software modelling, and system architecture.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Engineering/Electrical Engineering
