THE ROLE:

AMD Validation lead engineer works with different functional teams (Firmware, Silicon, Board Design, SW, Validation, etc.) to validate AMD latest APU/CPU features and find the silicon/system issues. You will touch cutting edge silicon, FW, and hardware and software technologies. You will have chances to see how they will be implemented in our product.

THE PERSON:

A quick learner for new technologies. Excellent communication skill (both verbal and written), including Mandarin and English. Key performance skills include decision making, problem solving, teamwork.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Study latest AMD silicon and system features; understand new features in silicon, BIOS, firmware, SW etc.
  • Define our validation strategy and drive validation execution for new silicon and platforms, and provide detailed technical direction to the validation engineers
  • Bring up and validate motherboard and systems
  • Contribute to client system development processes, team development, tool development
  • Project planning, status tracking, and reporting to management
  • Drive validation efficiency and quality improvement
  • Manage and improve customer experience of APU/CPU products

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with a variety of engineering disciplines and management.
  • Requires experience and demonstrated technical expertise in the development & execution of platform level electrical & functional test plans. Platform level electrical characterization experience with processor I/O interfaces is considered a plus.
  • Prior experience with software testing tools and environments, defect tracking, and revision control
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision making
  • Familiar with Microsoft Client Operating Systems, Linux Operating Systems, virtualization software (VMware, Xen, et al), and validation/certification processes for each of these environments
  • Familiar with client system component compatibility and stress testing
  • Familiar with high performance client IO adapters, drivers, and stress testing
  • Familiar with general Computer Architecture concepts

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BS-EE / BS-CE degree, an advanced degree will be a plus.
