The Amazon B2B Payments & Lending team provides invoices, working capital**,and payment acceptance solutions to Amazon Business customers, sellers,and other small business customers across Amazon. We are part of the global Consumer Payments organization, which aims to delight our customers by building payment experiences and financial services that are trusted, valued,** and easy to use from anywhere in any way.
B2B Payments & Lending's Credit and Fraud Management team is looking for a smart, motivated, and analytical Credit Risk Analyst to join our underwriting and portfolio management team. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of underwriting and related systems, as well as portfolio risk management experience. This role involves high judgment decision making, use/creation of risk analytics, the ability to analyze customer financials, complex underwriting, and management of SLAs. The successful candidate will have a strong desire for innovative processes, strong attention to detail and the ability to exceed expectations in a dynamic, fast-paced and often ambiguous environment.
This role will report to the Credit Operations Manager based in Tokyo, Japan. Business level written/verbal Japanese skill is required.
- Key job responsibilities
- Underwrite medium-to-large-sized credit applications.
- Evaluate portfolio risks across WW portfolios, with a focus on Japan. Monitor and create risk metrics.
- Improve processes to increase efficiency and mitigate risk across WW markets.
- Contribute to and develop underwriting/credit strategies for the entire portfolio and for individual customer sub-segments.
- Assist in defining policies and product features to support automated and manual credit decision-making and monitoring.
- Establish and constantly improve a credit adjudication and performance monitoring platform, and be a thought leader in this area.
- Develop processes, mechanisms and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enable efficient and scalable growth.
- Review complex credit decisions that require manual reviews or exceptions.
- Participate in program operations, partner with product managers and contribute to team-wide improvement goals.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders and partners with cross-organizational teams on high priority initiatives.
A day in the life
This role is based with the Tokyo team but involves daily communication with overseas partners in English (via email/call). About the team
The team is responsible for making decisions on Amazon Business (AB) customers’ eligibility for the Pay By Invoice (PBI) payment product at initial assessment, proactively and by request, while balancing spend opportunities and mitigating credit/write off risk. Our mission is to drive the Amazon flywheel by enabling credit on PBI for all eligible customers registering on AB with best-in-class risk management.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience working with complex data sets
- Experience leading projects across multiple stakeholders
- 3+ years of experience in commercial credit risk management
- Experience in Business Japanese / English skills, both verbal and written
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
- Knowledge of SQL or Python
- MBA, CFA, CPA or master’s degree in relevant fields
- Experience in managing a credit risk program for an unsecured lending portfolio.
