We are seeking a results-driven and hands-on Area/Operations Manager to join our team and play a critical role in the launch and ongoing operations of our new standalone Sort Center in Ankara, operated through a third-party logistics (3PL) partner. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a greenfield launch and help build the operational foundation from the ground up.
The Area/Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day sort center operations across inbound, sort, and outbound functions. You will manage the operational performance of the 3PL partner, drive continuous improvement, ensure safety and quality standards are met, and deliver on key performance metrics. You will work closely with 3PL site leadership, central operations teams, transportation, and last-mile delivery partners to ensure seamless package flow and on-time dispatch.
This role requires a leader who thrives in ambiguity, is comfortable building processes and mechanisms from scratch, and can influence and develop teams — including 3PL associates — without direct authority

Key job responsibilities
End-to-End Sort Center Operations – Own and manage daily inbound, sortation, and outbound operations across all shifts, ensuring packages are processed and dispatched within SLA windows while meeting throughput, accuracy, and cost targets.
Site Launch Execution – Lead operational readiness activities for the greenfield Sort Center launch, including SOP development, process design, system testing, associate training, and trial sort execution.
3PL Partner Management – Serve as the primary operational interface with the 3PL partner; hold them accountable to contractual KPIs and SLAs through regular governance meetings, performance reviews, and action planning.
Performance & Metrics Ownership – Monitor, analyze, and drive key operational metrics (throughput, missort rate, on-time dispatch, cost per package, labor productivity); conduct deep dives on defects and implement corrective actions.
Safety, Quality & Compliance – Champion a safety-first culture by conducting regular audits, Gemba walks, and ensuring full compliance with company safety standards, quality protocols, and local labor regulations.
Continuous Improvement – Identify and implement process improvement initiatives using Lean/Kaizen methodologies to optimize productivity, reduce defects, and improve overall operational efficiency.
People & Stakeholder Management – Coach and develop 3PL shift managers-team leads; coordinate cross-functionally with Transportation, Last Mile, and Network Planning teams to ensure seamless end-to-end package flow.

A day in the life
As an Area/Operations Manager, you will start your day reviewing overnight performance and leading morning huddles with 3PL and Amazon shift teams. You'll spend significant time on the sort floor conducting Gemba walks, monitoring real-time throughput, and resolving bottlenecks. Your day includes cross-functional syncs with transportation and last-mile teams, driving continuous improvement initiatives, managing 3PL performance, and ensuring all dispatches leave on time to meet customer promises.
