At Amazon, we are obsessed with customer trust. The Security Governance program supports this vision by setting the bar for security expectations through our policies and standards and through robust data protection. We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated Security Program Manager who will drive data governance initiatives to enforce our high security bar, identify thematic insights to inform root cause remediation, and deliver automation opportunities to create efficiency.

We assess risk, classify data and systems, scale adoption through automation and enable the business to guard the confidentiality and integrity of Amazon and customer data while creating a seamless experience for our stakeholders. Our mission includes instilling awareness to safeguard all customer and employee data, applications, services, and assets. To accomplish this, we work with Amazon organizations to build security best practices into enterprise-wide systems.

The Program Manager of Security Governance will help deliver enhanced customer trust by enforcing data protection controls such as data retention, deletion and access controls to builder teams across Amazon. This role will additionally be responsible for engaging technology and product partners to enhance data discovery capabilities and ensuring the accuracy of data categorization, requiring strong stakeholder management and organization. This role is a great opportunity to identify thematic patterns, propose and drive process improvements and deliver risk reduction for our customers.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • Manage data protection enforcement initiatives, prioritizing focus areas using a risk-based approach, and organizing rollout schedules
  • Provide hands on support to builders to ensure a seamless experience in meeting our high security bar by serving as an independent consultant
  • Identify and implement lessons learned to improve enforcement mechanisms
  • Use data to measure impact through metrics and monitoring
  • Define and deliver operational reporting that provides strategic insights
  • Work with business partners to understand requirements, risks and desired solutions for their data
  • Support the development of consistent standards and processes to effectively advocate for operational excellence
  • Identify and drive implementation of improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and customer experience
  • Engage product partners to improve data discovery efforts across the Amazon ecosystem
  • Participate in Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews to advise leadership about on-going enforcement efforts, wins and risks
