We provide end-to-end financial support driving AWS to be the low cost provider in Cloud computing and leader in customer experience. This includes supporting business owners in building, operating and innovating our Cloud datacenters.

We support operations, safety, security, business development, and engineering. You should be passionate about producing financial analysis enabling management to make breakthrough decisions, drive cash flow, and ultimately delight our customers.

Key job responsibilities
As a member of this team, you will work with Regional AWS (Business and Finance) leadership to:

  • Serve as the key business partner working directly with AWS management and other internal stakeholders to provide financial recommendations

  • Report weekly and monthly financial and operating metrics

  • Manage the financial planning and month end close processes. Model, analyze and forecast metrics that drive budgeting, forecasting and business decisions

  • Perform detailed NPV analysis in support of Strategic Initiatives and goals taken by finance and business teams. Support financial analysis for ad-hoc projects and as needed.

  • Analyze business results for key takeaways to achieve business objectives

  • Monitor compliance with controls and systems, and developing new processes to support the fast-growing AWS business

  • Preparing detailed financial models for business segments, drive business initiatives, and identify, implement, and deliver key operational efficiencies

  • Identify and lead projects to drive automation and process improvement

  • A day in the life

  • Work independently and self-motivate in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment

  • Prioritizing workloads and partnering cross-functionally, while delivering against tight deadlines

  • Developing/optimizing finance processes for speed, agility, and insight

  • Dive deep on ambiguous challenges and deliver actionable insights

  • Learn and be curious, deep diving complex business processes in a rapidly evolving and fast paced business environment

  • Directly supervise teams and developing people

  • Interact with financial systems such as Cognos TM1

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
  • MBA, or CPA
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL
  • 6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
  • 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
  • 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
  • 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
