Amazon has continually reinvented how the world shops and receives goods. Today, we operate retail websites across multiple countries and regions, offering an unparalleled selection across categories including books, media, digital content, and electronics. While our scale has grown, our culture remains the same—we work hard, have fun, and make history.
The Last Mile Planning team, part of the broader Last Mile Technology (LMT) organization, sits at the core of Amazon’s rapidly expanding logistics network. We build the software that powers efficient route, station, and capacity planning—enabling operations teams to deliver billions of packages to customers worldwide, right to their doorsteps. Our mission is to continuously innovate and improve vehicle routing and planning systems to support faster, more reliable deliveries at global scale.
Within this ecosystem, the Pre-Station Planning Technology team plays a critical role in enabling Last Mile operations globally. These systems precisely estimate the number of stations, vehicles, drivers, and routes required to deliver billions of packages efficiently—directly influencing both cost optimization and delivery performance.
We are seeking a tenured Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE) with strong technical depth and a passion for building high-quality, scalable software. In this role, you will own and deliver highly visible, impactful initiatives that directly shape the customer experience. You will help define the technical and architectural vision for a planning platform that touches every Amazon package, while being deeply involved across the entire software development lifecycle—from scoping and design to implementation, testing, and production delivery.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • Working collaboratively, shape the vision and strategy for solving business problems spread across retail and other cross systems outside of retail
  • Design scalable, secure systems that handle sensitive financial data.
  • Mentor, grow, and share the journey to deliver with quality.
  • Deep dive, develop and deliver systems that are highly maintainable. Technical leader for the team with the ability to deliver against all odds.
  • Data driven approach for making right architecture decisions, managing business priorities
  • Drive adoption of emerging technologies including agentic AI and LLMs
  • Influence automation strategy across the organization
