Job Description:
Junior Structural Design Engineer to joint the Combat and UAV Structural Design team.
In the Combat area we are responsible of Eurofigther wing structure and therefore we perform de design modifications, repairs, Non Conformities resolution and support to in service A/C's.
In the UAS area the main projects that are currently being developed are the Eurodrone and the Sirtap.
Eurodrone is the most important UAV Defence programme of the future for Europe, the key to European and national sovereignty and independence in the management of information and intelligence as well as European Industrial independence. Airbus uniquely combines the experience, capabilities and footprint to drive with our industrial partners this strategic defence programme.
New doctrines, processes and skills need to be gradually developed in alignment with the planned arrival of Eurodrone capabilities and meeting the related technological challenges. Eurodrone will require a step by step approach to be jointly tackled by European air forces, navies and industry. The development of the Eurodrone is shared by the nations which launched the program Germany, Italy, France and Spain.
Sirtap is a High Performance Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (UAV) to be designed, developed and certified by Airbus Defence and Space Spain for Spanish MoD, to cover the misions currently performed by other UAS.
In this frame, we are seeking a junior Design Engineer profile in the fields of Structure with 3 to 5 years of experience in Metallic and Composites technologies applied to the design. Able to interface with project stakeholders: Stress, Aerodynamics, Systems Design, Maintenability; and provide technical solutions to the project requirements.
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Metallic and Composite/Hybrid Structure Design Engineering
- Design and Validation of structural components and assemblies that are optimized in terms of weight, cost, performance, production/assembly requirements while highest safety of the Product is assured using appropriate design tools and procedures.
- Supporting the complete lifecycle of an aircraft in an End to End Process you will use additional modern Tools and Software applications.
- Strong working ties to other Engineering departments (e.g., stress, system engineering, aerodynamic…) interfacing Design will broaden continuously your knowledge.
- Support various stakeholders with technical knowledge (e.g. purchasing, manufacturing engineering, production…). Follow-up of the design Suppliers.
- You will participate applying the state of the art of the design methods in the most of advanced military projects.
- You will have the opportunity to see the result of your work in the final product and to be part of continuous improvement and technology projects.
- Participation in the development of the technological areas of structural discipline
