Senior Platform Engineer

• Infrastructure Services

We're looking for a Senior Platform Engineer with 6+ years of experience to join our ACS Infrastructure Services Team within the Platform Engineering organization in Bengaluru. This team owns and operates Adyen's core container orchestration and traffic management infrastructure, the foundation that keeps our global payment platform running. In this role, you will design, build, and operate critical infrastructure systems, drive automation and reliability improvements, and help scale Adyen's platform as we continue to grow globally.

What you'll do

• Build and operate core infrastructure: Design, implement, and maintain container orchestration (Kubernetes), traffic management (HAProxy, DNS/Anycast), and supporting infrastructure across our global private cloud.

• Drive automation and reduce toil: Develop tooling and automation that improves provisioning, configuration management, and operational workflows, enabling self-service for engineering teams and reducing manual effort.

• Ensure reliability at scale: Own the availability and performance of critical platform systems, participate in on-call rotations, and drive incident response and postmortem processes that continuously improve our operational posture.

• Collaborate across teams and time zones: Work closely with platform engineers in Amsterdam, Chicago and Singapore, contributing to a global team that operates 24/7 infrastructure across multiple regions and datacenters.

• Shape platform evolution: Contribute to architectural decisions, evaluate new technologies, and help drive platform modernization initiatives — including migration strategies, multi-region resilience, and infrastructure standardization.

Who you are

• Linux proficiency: Advanced skills in system administration, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls), and security fundamentals. Comfortable troubleshooting complex issues across the stack.

• Container technologies expertise: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes at scale, cluster operations, networking, troubleshooting. Familiarity with Hashi Corp tools (Terraform, Consul, Nomad, Vault) and Git Ops workflows (ArgoCD).

• Traffic management knowledge: Experience with load balancers (HAProxy, Nginx, etc), DNS/Anycast, and CDN/DDoS protection (Cloudflare or similar). Understanding of L4/L7 traffic patterns and failover strategies.

• On-prem / bare-metal experience: Comfortable operating infrastructure outside of public cloud, bare-metal provisioning, hardware lifecycle, storage, and datacenter operations.

• Strong scripting and programming skills: Advanced Bash proficiency and intermediate-to-advanced skills in Python or Go. Ability to build production-quality tooling and automation.

• Nice to have: Prior experience in Fin Tech or regulated industries where reliability and security are paramount. Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet) and infrastructure-as-code at scale.
