You Are:
An Enterprise Solution Architect with deep expertise in IBM i Series (AS/400) systems, including RPG‑based applications, DB2/400, middleware integrations, system operations, modernization frameworks, and managed‑services delivery models. You excel at engaging prospective customers, diagnosing legacy platform challenges, and shaping modern, scalable solutions across operations, automation, modernization, and cloud‑adjacent technologies.
You operate confidently in presales environments—partnering with sales teams, leading technical discussions, and translating business requirements into executable architectures. You can independently design complex i Series solutions while also co‑creating outcomes collaboratively with clients and internal delivery teams.
The Work:
The primary responsibility of this role is to function as a Solution Architect across a variety of opportunities—from small focused workstreams to large, multi‑tower transformation programs involving Application Managed Services and Professional Services for IBM i Series environments.
You will leverage deep solutioning and delivery experience across IBM i Series operations, modernization, integration, high availability, batch processing, security, and maintenance models. You will help clients understand modernization pathways, operational efficiency opportunities, and the future‑state roadmap for their mission‑critical AS/400 workloads.
This role requires strong architectural thinking, hands‑on understanding of IBM i technology stacks, familiarity with hybrid modernization patterns, and the ability to articulate value clearly to senior stakeholders.
Lead Pre‑Sales Architecture & Solutioning for IBM i Series:

Lead the design, development, and solution architecture for IBM i Series/AS400 managed services, application support, modernization pathways, and operations transformation during the presales cycle.

Architect end‑to‑end delivery models covering operations, monitoring, HA/DR, patching, maintenance, batch orchestration, security, and integration workflows.

Design modernization options such as APIs, microservices integration layers, database refactoring, and refactoring/replatforming strategies.
Represent the Solution to Senior Stakeholders:

Serve as the primary architectural voice in discussions with Operating Group leadership, sales executives, senior client buyers, and functional owners.

Present i Series solution approaches, performance models, risk assessments, delivery structures, and modernization roadmaps in a compelling and business‑aligned narrative.
Drive Technology Delivery Sign‑Off & Governance:

Drive the required Technology Delivery approvals—aligning scope, solution risks, assumptions, cost models, SLAs, and delivery feasibility with Operating Group leadership.

Ensure all proposed solutions reflect established organizational standards, industry best practices, and client constraints.
Collaborate Across Sales, SMEs, and Delivery:

Work closely with sales teams, IBM i Series SMEs, application architects, DBAs, and delivery leaders to validate scope and feasibility.

Promote Standards, Compliance & Methodology:

Assess Client Environments & Recommend Improvements:

Support Delivery Alignment & Deal Stabilization:
