The Opportunity

Lead and provide training expertise to employees to ensure continued compliance with Quality Management System and administration of the divisional Learning Management System. The position is also accountable for delivering continuous improvement for divisional and site training processes and systems to meet long-term business objectives. Provide direction and guidance to the QA Training resources at the site. Manages the team's workload and is responsible for performance management. Support the business by assessing the learning need and developing/modifying QA training materials. This position will be based out of our Abbott Diabetes Care in Alameda, CA and the individual will be expected to be onsite Monday-Friday.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing training support to the division and site to ensure a compliant training requirements management system. This includes onboarding and identification of employee training needs.
  • Support training needs related to CAPA and audit actions.
  • Create, maintain and update user accounts and training assignments in the Learning Management System.
  • Work closely with division and site QA leadership and training teams to continuously improve QA training processes and materials.
  • Sets annual performance goals.
  • Identify barriers/obstacles to achieving agreed upon goals and escalate as needed to Training Manager.
  • Help to conduct training needs assessments and gap analysis.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to assess the impact of training programs and make necessary adjustments to enhance effectiveness.
  • Conduct business in a manner that will protect our product, our customers and our brand by complying with all applicable Corporate and Division policies and procedures, EHS laws, as well as the Abbott global and technical standards.
  • Develop and follow a structured approach to Training/Learning content/material development.
  • Interface with SMEs from business functional areas to design and develop training materials in a variety of formats to support the business (i.e., instructor-led-training, computer-based-training, On-the-Job-Training (OJT), and competency assessments).
  • Participate in global and site cross-functional team meetings to assist with the development of courses/training materials.
  • Helps to ensure accuracy and applicability of new courses.
  • Will translate identified training needs into QA training/learning solutions in line with project timelines.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with team and leadership to review progress and align training initiatives with strategic business goals.
  • Develop, design, implement, and maintain training programs and curricula, incorporating innovative training methodologies and technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Education, Science Engineering, Human Resources, Business, or Instructional Design, equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years in Medical Device or other FDA regulated industry experience.
  • Minimum 2 years in management of direct resources with a proven ability to work successfully cross-functionally and collaboratively to problem solve, initiate and manage projects, influence internal and external groups and provide leadership from a quality perspective.
  • Firm knowledge of CFR 820, ISO 13485 and ISO 14971.
  • Highly developed written, oral and interpersonal skills, critical thinking, ability to evaluate complex processes, ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, customers and vendors; ability to establish strategic direction and lead change.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of learning delivery techniques, tools, and general principles of learning.
  • Developing training courses/materials, and improving existing quality training courses.
  • Experience utilizing word processing software (e.g. Microsoft Office
  • Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
