This role will be reporting to the R&D Line Manager in business area Process Automation (PA) located in Bangalore. You will be working at Ability Innovation Center (AIC), home to the largest technology and engineering pool in ABB globally and is a part of ABB Global Industries and Services Private Limited, a subsidiary of ABB. It is based in Bangalore, the silicon-valley of India. Its unique infrastructure places research, development, engineering, and service teams under one roof, increasing collaboration and reducing time to market, with no compromise on quality.
You will join a team of highly skilled engineers to lead and develop advanced industrial control applications for the energy services sector. You will make important contributions to technology and product development through the identification, proposal, and implementation of creative solutions. Collaborating with teams in Norway, Sweden and Germany, the breadth of technologies and control strategies employed is broad. We are looking for someone who is technically very strong. Your role and responsibilities
In this position, you will be empowered to start and manage the development of technologies, software, products, or solutions, applying thorough technical proficiency in a specific domain. Each day, you will act as the first point of contact in Research and Development (R&D) for in-depth product or technology-related issues. You will also demonstrate your technical leadership by contributing to strategic corporate technology planning and shaping the architecture of upcoming products, software, and solutions.
The work model for the role is: Hybrid
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Maintain deep technical knowledge by leveraging the latest technologies, tools, and methodologies, while applying innovative problem-solving to develop effective solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain core software components, implement new features, and analyze and resolve system issues reported by customers or end users.
- Participate in design discussions, documentation, code reviews, and IP strategy initiatives, ensuring scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Support continuous improvement through DevOps, CI/CD, and workflow optimization, while providing technical training and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications for the role:
- B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech with 60%+ and 10–12 years of experience, including at least 6 years of extensive design and development work in C# and .NET technologies.
- Well-versed in C#, .NET Core, Web APIs, and microservices architecture, with demonstrated experience building scalable web applications and RESTful APIs.
- Thorough understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), OOAD principles, and design patterns, with practical experience using MVC, ASP.NET, LINQ, Bootstrap, and task-based programming.
- Experience writing unit and component tests with tools like x Unit or NUnit, paired with solid coding, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Practical experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, RDBMS, time-series databases, and NoSQL, combined with solid system design and development abilities.
- Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments with CI/CD tools, along with exposure to Microsoft Azure, containerization technologies like Kubernetes/Open Shift, and modern development practices.
- Shown professional and leadership strengths such as stakeholder management, a flexible approach, critical analysis, team collaboration, and communication; experience in security, networking, Angular/HTML/CSS, or Industrial Automation is favorable.
